Help and Advice for first time grower...

hey guys, i just started growing 8 plants in my closet under 2 t12 20 watt FL's as well as 2 23 watt CFL's. I germinated them and most of them are already sprouting through the soil. I know these lights arnt the greatest but i was in a hurry and tight on cash. Im going to get the 400W MH/HPS light kit pretty soon. But for now these will work...anyway, my questions are..How long should i leave the lights and fan on? 12/12 18/6? im not to sure...also can you guys recomend some nutrients that are available at lowes or home depot? possibly even a small nursey? stuff for the transplant and really anything that will help them grow? Thanks alot!
 
go to walmart and buy the 2 nutrients fertilizers by Miracle grow.. they got plant feed and bloom boost. and lights you can do 24 hours or 20/4 or 18/6, i always perfer 18/6 or 20/4 because how would you be if you was up 24/7?
 
Thanks alot guys...i got one of the miracle grow nuts...it was a blue color, i cant remember the name, and as soon as they are done sprouting im gonna starting using it...

Just thought I'd put in my newbie advise, but if you are growing in your closet (i hope you have a decent sized walk in closet), but don't use 400 hps lighting in a small closet or use lots of fans to spread the heat around in an air-conditioned area? Just be careful not to burn your house down.
 
what npk of the nutes u bought
and i did 20/4 but found it is easier running all day then dont have to worry with timers till flower

hey man, yeah the closet is descent size. But im not using the mh/hps untill im done making my grow box...thanks for the concern though..the lights i have in there now are seeding the hell out of them and there not even getting warm
 
well mostly all nuts usaully have a tamoto or a some sort of veg on bottle/box as flower nuts usaully have flowers on bottle/box
 
u want some thing with higher first and last numbers and about half of those for middle for example like 30-15-30 veg and 15-30-15 or 8-14-9 for flower
tomato food is 18-18-21 not the right mix for veg nutes are very important that u use the right ratio of npk or u can fuck your plants up quick
and when still young use quarter or at most half strength of what box recommends
