8 to 9 weeks harvest will take a while to get started. You must remember that plants have cycles that they must go through. 8 to 9 weeks means you have at least two growing set ups going at once. People here can give you specifics on lighting, and if you've been reading, you've read some good post about lighting and soil and nutes...but Weed, for as much as it wants to grow, is tricky. I don't have years of experience like some of these folks do, but I've killed a few plants in my day, and I think you learn more by failing than succeeding, although in my short time, I have in my opinion, grown some really good bud. These are the 8 Commandments I've gathered so far. Take them as you will.

1. Some plants want to die; get over it.
2. Pay extra for the important things. (soil, meters, electric shit)
3. It always takes longer than you think it should. Be patient.
4. Proper Drying and Curing is just as important as proper Growing. You cannot have a successful harvest without the proper "post-production" involved.
5. Once again, be patient.
6. Don't give up on a plant until you KNOW it is dead.
7. Never underestimate the power of your Nutes; those things will fry a plant, even if they don't seem to be doing any good.
8. It really, really, really is worth it. There is nothing in the world like smoking your own weed. Really.
I hope my advice helps. Perhaps the plants I killed won't die in vain if I can pass on the info I've learned. Happy growing.

Oh and if you need the stats on how many plants it would require to produce two pound, under optimal conditions, that is 8 fully flowering plants growing, but if I were you doing the math, I'd make room for at least 16 plants. Male plants to pot growers are a big problem. But dude, really, for the output you are looking at, SAVE THE POLLEN!!!! Seeds will screw up a crop's potency, but seeds carry it forward. Make the space to have a stud farm.
Avoid international purchases as much as possible, clone from what you have (but no more than three times), pollinate new plants, and have a Mother plant under 24 hours of light set far, far aside from all other plants. Give it a year or so before you expect your 2lbs a season; make seeds, smoke yourself up, and don't get greedy. Don't get greedy. Don't get greedy. Like Marge Simpson says you should, I said it three times so that it sticks...
Really, if you wanna be Scarface, I take it all back. But man, really, growing pot is almost as fun as smoking it. Well, I won't defend the latter statement, but I will say that growing is, opposed to other hobbies, the best one I found so far.

thanks for the quick replies sunnyhunny, smoke2live...I can totally understand the greed part of it, ive seen tons of friends who once started growing in there closets to having 30/30 flip's in large barns. As for plants i have an exellent source for a potent kush strain. I was hoping to do three 600wt hps or two 1000wt hps one veg and one flowering? not sure if this will be enough to create 2lbs every 2months or not, but its a start.
