Hi i am new to the forums. Been lurking and this place seems to have a wealth of knowledge. A little about my background... i grow cannabis for a career in oregon. I am the lead grower at a mixed tier 2 rec farm and have been doing my own thing at home. Im trying to break into breeding and wasnt sure where to post. I didnt see a breeding section.

My question is... ive heard if you let a plant go to long and it herms out and selfs itself or other plants the seeds from that happening will produce herm plants. Now is that the same if i purposly stress the plant out? Ive read mixed answers on different sites and even on this one.

Hope this all makes sense lol

Welcome to RIU

First...there's a breeder section https://www.rollitup.org/f/breeders-paradise.94/

Second...

From my experience, not true. One of my grow got seeded, I planted those seeds. The resulting plants were subjected (beyond my control) to over a week of no light, no aerated water, high humidity, and high temperature...a few died but those that survived continued to yield above my expectation and importantly not a single plant hermied.

It is just more likely to be a hermie trait. But really if your the lead grower at a cannabis farm you should be the one telling us.also there's a difference between a seed produced through hermies and a seed produced because of the fight for survival. When a plant is left long into flower and still it hasn't been pollinated sometimes they will self pollination, thus is very different to a hermie, these seeds will be excellent

Its really not hard to become a lead grower here. I came from michigan to here and after a years experience at one farm i got this job at this farm. Best 100 dollars you can spend :)

I for sure dont know everything about cannabis but i am learning :) but a lot of people around me seem to be just guessing about whats going on with the plant. And im trying to learn the correct way to do things to better my career.

I am lucky to be able to be around thousands of plants daily. I take hundreds of clones weekly, so i can experiment with different techniques whether it comes to pruning techniques, cloning techniques, or whatever it may be. Its all learning for me. And like i said this site seems to have people not just guessing :)

Thanks for all the replies
