God bless America. I'm not saying you should shoot...I'm not saying you shouldn't either. Good to see the justice system still works from time to time

Hopefully Larry James was within the state guidelines for the grow.

Two charged with manslaughter after victim shoots their accomplices.
December 16, 2011 - 10:44 am From Kyle Hopkins and Casey Grove in Anchorage

An alleged robber and getaway driver are now charged with manslaughter after a homeowner killed their accomplices, police say. The trouble began Nov. 10, when three people entered a trailer on the 700 block of Muldoon Road, demanding money and drugs, according to police. The man inside shot and killed two of the 19-year-old robbers, police say. Now the alleged accomplices of the two men shot and killed face charges for both the robbery and the deaths. The robbers believed there was a marijuana grow at the trailer, the indictment says. Read the charges here. An Anchorage grand jury on Thursday indicted Brian Albert Pfister, 18, and Ursula Evelyn Roberta Pico, 21, for: -- Two counts of manslaughter -- First-degree robbery -- Conspiracy to commit robbery -- First-degree burglary Police say Pfister was the robber who escaped when his partners were killed. Pico drove the getaway car, police say. She also is charged with evidence tampering for trying to hide the vehicle. The resident who fired the shots, 55-year-old Larry James, has not been charged. A prosecutor said Friday that a police investigation showed James was clearly within his rights under Alaska law in defending himself with deadly force. Police confirmed they dismantled a marijuana grow operation at James' trailer sometime after the shooting. Prosecutors are still considering charges for James related to the marijuana grow, said Assistant District Attorney James Fayette.

Is it wrong of me to absolutely love DRT* stories?

Love love love.

I love the Castle Doctrine, too.

When a dirtbag invades a home knowing the occupants are inside, he ain't breaking in to deliver flowers.

I agree, but the personal side of it is when you take that lethal action a logical/sane person picks up psychological luggage that can be carried for life.

There is no time for an internal philosophical debate in such situations.

An armed intruder has broken into your home. In your hands is a fully loaded, pump-action, 12 gauge scatter-gun; with the safety off.

What will you do?

I know what I will do.

A home invader is not there for any other purpose than bad. The fact that you are home and he breaks in anyway means he intends to harm you to get what he wants.

The law saws that in your own home, you are not required to retreat any further before applying lethal force.

I really don't see a problem with baggage in such a situation because there is nothing to feel guilty over.

The body on the floor, approaching room temperature, is the guilty party.

We agree 100% on the subject.

But having been on the "Right" end of a weapon, is something that stays with you.

The moment you draw a gun, you've paid a price already. The ideal outcome is don't shoot; don't get shot ... but even that choice qualifies as traumatic stress to me. I am frankly grateful that I was never in that position. It seems like GWN paid a higher price (don't get shot) that would leave anyone who isn't badly wrong in the head with a scar for life, as DSB suggested. Jmo ... cn
