No, that's pretty much true. Hemp is a whacky plant, and my understandings is that one of its abilities is to retain daytime heat into the night (not all night, but after the ground and other plants cool down a bunch).

But yeah, if cops see a house glowing red like crazy when all the other houses aren't, I guess they can look into that, too.

before attempting to look smart without facts do some research

im not a pro, but they do have a different heat sig, all plants and trees have different heat signatures, same as humans animals and vehicles, marijuana in particular is much "hotter" because of the amount of water it takes in, i dont know why it happens im not a botanist, but it is however true, read a book, search on google, just don't try making me look stupid without researching, thanks...

I thought it was a joke about planting upside down, was that meant literally? We aren't growing potatoes here? And yes the heat from the water is what gives away the outdoor grower. Another common thing the cops with IR are looking for are irrigation lines (buried garden hoses).

BIG NEGATIVE Flir is used to show differences in heat. Pot doesnt have enough difference from the surroundings to be very visable. The feds are now using a color spectrum camera. It detects the color of pot and reflects a green wavelength back. Remember here in the Daniel Boone National Forrest they fly nonstop during the flowering stages. All of the surrounds are dying off and turning brown, the leaves are falling, etc but pot is glowing green. Thats what makes it stand out on the camera, it just doesnt belong in the region IT STANDS OUT!
