ok i got a question!..im about to transplant and a buddy of mines has 2 25lb bags of organic soil..there about a year and a half old though...they never been open, and have no holes or tears in the bags...can soil go bad?!?...like i know it can grow mold and what not..do u think i should just buy new soil?!?

any reply will be helpful! thanks!:joint::mrgreen::peace:

Open the bag up, look threw the soil, make sure there are no critters in it. If the soil looks fine and and you dont see any sign of mold or that type of thing then put it to use. What kinda soil though?

It may have become to dry, or lose some of its worth over time. Soil is cheap anyways, why take the chance over like 10 dollars?

its not cheap when u need 6-8 bags at 10$ a bag...what will the mold look like..like white and slimey or some shit?!?

mold is usually kind of fuzzy looking - like what grows on stale bread or moldy cheese. though slimy and snot-like would probably be bad too :)

You ..uh had to ask to make sure? hmmm... this could be a lot of work. The bottom of the pot is the one with more than one hole. VV

soil is like a fine wine the older the better but you may want to add some vermiculite / perlite to the mix to air it up so it doesnt compact i know a buddy who grows with soil thats been sitting around for 8 years in sealed bad and he grows some bomb dank, personaly i make my own mix, 2 parts perlite 1 part vermiculite,1 part potting soil 4 parts potting mix = to a well draining moister keeping mix that works great and the ladies love it lol
