Heat stress questions

On the very day projected by the seed company for a harvest day an accident caused the heat in the room to spike to over 106 for hours overnight. It was a steam bath when I opened the room.

Now the foxtailing has started. I started adding Silica Blast & Seaweed extract to the nutes.

Q1) Will it even be worth finishing? Will it start maturing again, ie. start turning those clear trichomes into cloudy ones or does the plant abandon the old bud to focus entirely on the new?

Q2) If recovery does happen, how long?

Q3) Any tricks to hasten the maturity, e.g. longer dark period, cooler temps? etc?

Q3 i gotta respectfully disagree with Herb&Suds. I've found that reducing light schedule to 10/14 can help with foxtailing. Depends if your plant is foxtailing or revegging though.

Tell me, is it shooting more white pistils or is it throwing single bladed green fan leaves?

White pistils only

Q1) yes it will be worth finishing. Foxtailing don't equal bad weed. You lose bag appeal but that's it. They don't affect quality.

Q2) they form due to stress or genetics they may not "recover"

Q3) no. Just let them finish as they require.

Any pictures?

I concur.

At what point do you switch to 10/14. After the eight week 12/12 mark or six week mark?
Right around when buds have finished forming. Pretty much when i don't want them to change shape anymore. Week 6 or 8 sounds about right.

Never. Reducing light is counter productive to finishing.
You can keep the same DLI by running a slightly higher PPFD for less hours. But i believe cannabis benefits from reduced DLI for the last couple weeks. I run 30-35 DLI for most of flower and then drop down to 27, 28ish for the last couple weeks. Haven't noticed negative difference in yield or density. Just bud shape is more round and typical golf ball shaped. Density is the still there.

DLI is DLI. Whether you run less intensity over a longer period or more intensity over a shorter period it's the same.

"Q3) Any tricks to hasten the maturity, e.g. longer dark period, cooler temps? etc?"

What does this question have to do with fox tailing ?:wall:

Sitation ?
You mean citation? Like a source? The source is myself. Also that chart I linked comes from an article about this you could reverse image search it or just google the phrase "reducing PPFD in late flower" Here is a bud that I grew under 12/12 throughout:

Here is a bud when i switch to 10/14.

Same cut, light, nutrients, tent, ect.

Yeah I know. You quoted me and then extrapolated my first sentence into two of your own? Did you not read my whole post? thats why I said I believe in reducing the DLI. Maybe check out the visual posted above. The gold line in the graph represents DLI

Just trying to help the guy avoid foxtailing and I know late flower DLI is a factor.

idk what you're talking about. I have absolutely no reason to BS you. Also its in a thread already that is linked at the bottom of every single one of my posts. Also i'm not here to convince you of anything. I'm here to help OP.

harvested both those plants within days of those pictures. had fine thc% and bag appeal. smoking some of it now actually.
