HEAT PROBLEMS with HID

I have just watched an episode of ultimate grow on youtube, and saw that some people use coolers on their hid lamps. They do this by placing a piece of glass beneath the bulb attached to the reflector. I was wandering whether it is possible to use any piece of glass, and then fasten it to the reflector as a pose to going and buying a whole new air cooled hid system.
And if i managed to make one myself, and made it airtight, would it do a good job, or close to?

Well,to begin you need to buy tempered glass (that is what they use) Also you would have to figure out a way to fasten it well, as I would assume you need a tight seal. Beyond that, I don't see a problem with you doing a little of the work yourself instead of reinvesting in an air cooled hood. I have air cool hoods and they definitely do work, so it's worth looking into. Are you growing in a cabinet? Do you have a nice exhaust fan? Have you read anything about "cool tubes"? These are a few other options you can look into. Best of luck
