Heat from 3 1000w hps

Hi guys, I currently goin through a heatwave and my room is gettin hella hot, I'm running 3 1000w hps in a room that's 14x6x9. The temp is max 101.5f and min of 85f, the lights turn on at 8pm - 8am just to keep temp down, I have fresh air coming in and hot air being sucked out but its still hot, what can I do to cool it? I was thinking of moving the lights to 4 ft above the canopy to lower some heat but would this affect the amount of light the plants get? Or even unplugging each light for a few hrs of a time? Any suggestions pls? Thanks

if your ambient temps are already so hot then raising the lights isn't really gonna do much. you need to get those temps below 90. your only option is adding some form of cooling. i went through the same dilimna as you a couple of months ago and tried everything. bigger fan, more circulation fans, raising the lights, etc. none of it worked. bottom line is if your ambient temps are already at 85 then as soon as the lights come on they are gonna heat your room up. i put a window ac unit in my room. make a box for the back which is the exhaust and run ducting to wherever your dump your air. you may need a supplemental fan too. don't make the same mistake i did and think that you can somehow get the temperatures in line when its so hot out without ac. you can't

Or even unplugging each light for a few hrs of a time?

it would probably take 10-15 mins to totally cool the light off but the light would be hot as heck within 1-2 minutes.. i would suggest a portable ac if you don't have access to a window ac unit..

How about if I unplug the middle light? That means I have 2 1000w lights on, I have 3 lined up in a row in a 12 foot room, so its like ---light---light---light--- the dashes are 1 ft so there's 3ft inbetween the lights, do u think having the 2 outer lights on and the middle one off would affect the crop?

There is never too much lights cutting one will definetly decrease yield so will temps that high what kind of hoods are you running

You never mentioned, but it sounds like you are using open reflectors?

You'll never tackle the heat with that much wattage unless you convert to air cooled reflectors. Hell if I was using only three 400 watt systems in that size room, I'd still make sure they were air cooled. It's a substantial investment, buying all the fans, you can proabably get by with one big one for all...second thought, you'll probably need a decent size fan for each light...1000 watts is no joke.

Even hitting 90 F is fairly unacceptable, if you're hitting 100+, that will stress them out.

I'm using open reflectors now, but when I first started I invested in 3 air cooled tubes, and things were going ok but slowly my yield started deminishing so someone told me I wasn't getting enough light to my ladies with it, so juss bought some open shades to try out, but now I'm getting high heat problems. Might just have to go back to the tubes, I did get a higher yield with the open shades with my last crop. anyone know why?

Anyone know howcome I got a higher yield with an open reflector than a cool tube? Both using 1000w hps, both have 13 plants, both topped, both same food

if you are relatively new to growing then it could just be that you gained experience and understanding that helped you take care of your plants better.
