Heat concerns but just checking in

Hi Everyone.

I'm pretty much new when it comes to growing. Been smoking it for years but it's starting to get a little costly now. Must be because I'm more tolererant in now than I was in my youth

Anyway, I am growing a Big Bud from sensiseeds and I have a little concern which I am hoping some of you would be able to ease somehow. Basically I just wanted your thoughts on this.

The grow is a scrog, I am using a 600w lamp and it's growing in soil. The pot is about 30 litres, has good drainage and the humidity levels are usually between 45% and 50%. Now the temperature........well, last week I had it at about 26-27°C but heat levels have gone up here (Switzerland) in the last few days. Now my grow room (oh which is 120cm x 250cm by the way) is around 32-33°C. I know that pretty warm but I am controlling the temperature as best as I can right now until I can afford a fan to blow some nice fresh air inside. Hopefully the temperatures will ease down or I can get something in the next few days to install.

The plant is now in its 32nd day of flowering and it's going really slow. It's still growing and stretching but the budding sites don't seem to be forming as quick as what I think they should be. I am giving it nutrients NPK 2-5-5 but the pH is a little low (5.0 with the run off) but I will remedy that during it's next watering as I purchased a pH Corrector (pH Plus from HESI) today. My tap water pH is 6.5.

This is her from 22nd June.

Different view.

This is her today. I know the grid didn't get totally filled out but I was growing this und fluorescents for the first few weeks and after a couple of weeks with the HPS I just decided to make the switch and see how it goes. I'm sure my next grow will be more successful with more plants (I think 4 scrogs would fit in here with a squeeze)

View from above.

So if anyone has any thoughts on this and want to ease my growing worries, let me know. I am hoping I can harvest within the next 5 weeks because I am going on vacation and have nobody to come take care of them.

Your grow looks like it is going well. A cheap way to help with the temps a little is to put frozen water bottles in front of fans blowing around your room. Its not gonna do the job like an air conditioner would, but it is cheap, easy, and offers some help. with rising temps in the room you may need to adjust the height of your lights away from the plants to prevent heat stress, i dont know, i could not see your lights.

I would pass on the water bottle if I were you. I hung a frozen GALLON of water with a second fan, and my temp didn't move a single degree. The best thing I did for my temps was get a nice window fan, dropped about 7-10 degrees farenheit depending on the day

Hi sorry, been working long hours and not really had time to get on here lately. Thanks for the replies.

Well I took the plant out of the scrog. The reason for this was because I noticed some dark yellow slime in the run off tray. I took it out, put it in the shower and thoroughly flushed it. Obviously I couldn't get the scrog back on there but it's looking ok despite the high temps. I have it still running pretty hot during the day, roughly 33 degrees give or take. The night temps are about 28 or 29. Not ideal but I can wait a little longer if necessary.

Anyway, i think they'll be ready in a couple of weeks.

:o 8 in a scrog??

Sounds great but I reckon you could put 1 in a scrog with that size tent and yield just as much. If you also do DWC bubble bucket or something similar, you'll also save a few weeks on vegging. Use the 300w CFL for vegging and the HPS for flowering.

This is how I would do it.

Oh and that harvest I did, well, the temps badly affected the flowering process. There is no smell on the bud and the taste wasn't too great either. The effect was ok but I was always more hungry than anything else really. I still have some of it in a jar for when I wanna get my munchies on:lol:

Up to 6 and feed normally. To me, the leaves are like that when they are coming to their end but if you say they have nearly 4 weeks still then it's more likely the low ph locking out the nutes. You could also flush with ph corrected water but that would be a little difficult with that scrog going on. Other than that I think they look pretty good

they ware perfect till one 1 time heat had risen to 30 and had to switch cycle from 6 am to start at 6 pm now

You can use dolomite powder to raise your ph. Use it carefully though. A bottle of pH upper isn't really expensive either. I mix my nutes in a 20 liter bucket and then ph it (after adding the nutes naturally). Then I let it sit out overnight, correct the pH again the next day, leave a couple of hours, pH again and then feed once stable. I have pretty bad water where I live.

Yeah mate but you really want a ph pen/meter if you haven't already got one. The ph up/down works fine for soil. You'll obviously use the upper.

You just need to add a few drops after you added the nutes to the water. Pop the pen in your mixing bucket or whatever you're using, add the drops and mix until your ph pen /meter goes up to 6.5 (soil) or 6 (coco). It's really that simple
