I have a grow box, with a 400w HPS. Box demisions are 4' h x 4'w x 3' d, i have a inline fan bringing in air from outside, and a exhaust fan near the top. I turned on the lite yesterday and put one of those remote thermoneters in the box, and the temperture got up over 100, the strange thing is the exhaust air was cool coming out of the box, and it didnt feel all that hot when i opened the box. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated, I have plants that need to go into the flower stage, but i dont want to kill them.bongsmilie

Yeah, I have problems getting decent readings in my cabinets due to the body of the thermometer heating up and too much direct light.

I've been thinking about buying in infrared spot thermometer to get rid of the guesswork. I'm thinking it might be able to tell me the actual temperature of the surface of a leaf.

Non-Contact Handheld Infrared Thermometer N/A N/A

Macabee I think ur dead on, the black plastic remote thermometer is what heated up, other wise the air coming out of my exhaust would have been hot, not cool like it is.bongsmilie
