Don't tell me you haven't already thought about building another box.

Besides, think about the harvest! Big Bud x NL would give you smoke for a year.

lol, I'm always thinking about it! but space is tight and I have to deal with roommates. :| it is tempting though, I hear big bud is a massive yielder. in the reg seeds section I also got a few bagseeds from some really good smoke I had like 8 months ago.

Right, the roommates. :(

Well if you decide to join us on the pollination quest, you have time. I'll be ordering seeds tomorrow and they'll take time to get here.

I'd like to get TGA but the attitude's short on a lot of his stuff. Once I figure out what's available, I'll post my top three picks.

Checked trichs again today and it looks like the burn had more of an effect than I thought. Flowering time is going to have to be extended as the frequency of amber is not yet high enough.

I clipped of a couple bottom buds and tossed them in a cedar box to get a quick dry/early sample.

[Edit]

Seed choices:

1. The Void. For its "uplifting and motivational" high, shorter flowering time, and small stature.
2. Quleaner. For its growing profile, specifically its adaptation to a SOG style grow.
3. Space Queen. For its familiarity and sativa dominance.

Comments on these are most definitely welcome.

The Attitude guarantees shipping for the price of tee shirt and I could use a new one. Of the TGA seeds they have available and in a pack of five, the most appealing was the Subcool original Apollo 13.

I ordered a pack. :)

55-70 days according to TGA's site. The order has been processed and will be sent within the next three business days.

In other news, the Headband is ready to be picked. For convenience, she'll likely get the chop Tuesday night. Does anyone have any experience with a 24hr dark period before harvest? Longer?

Dark for 36 hours, let all of the sugars push down into the roots, and then chopchopchop

Hello canavi, welcome.

One vote for 36hrs, any other takers? Google scholar doesn't have much on this... does anyone know the involved biological factors?

It's update day, here we go.

After continued research, here's a quote from bricktop.

For about the hundredth time on this site ....

"The Stichting Institute of Medical marijuana (SIMM), the first company to sell marijuana through the pharmacies of Holland, has been investigating the medical possibilities of cannabis, together with TNO laboratories and the University of Leiden.

One of their discoveries has been that to keep the ripe plants in the dark before harvesting could increase their potency.SIMM’s growers separated a crop of mature plants, harvested half of them and kept the other half in absolute darkness for
72 hours before cutting and drying. Analysis of the resulting dried buds showed that some varieties had seen an increase of THC of up to 30%, while CBD and CBN remained the same."
I am far from an expert on this and further advice would be appreciated. Giving the chlorophyl a chance to slow their photosynthesis seems like a good idea but I do not have any sources on this. It probably wont make too much of a difference either way.

So let's give it a try! This morning at lights off, the fixture was unplugged. If harvested on tuesday at what-would-be lights on, Ms. Headband will spend 36hrs in darkness. Happy Experimenting.

The last watering was on Friday, so she'll be dry and ready for harvest. Hopefully 35% humidity in complete darkness will not cause mold and just in case, extra circulation fans were added.

Since this is usually photo day, here's a teaser.

woohoo! into the dark she goes! I think 24-72 hour of dark is pretty generally what I have seen people doing in my reading oTm... I am not sure about any real difference or scientific explanations for darkness vs. no darkness, but the people who like the darkness don't seem to do it longer than 72 hours... /shrug

I like that pic! sexy purple lady :leaf::leaf::leaf:

Thanks PTO, I'm glad you chimed in. I was starting to think the darkness was a touchy subject around here.

More to come tomorrow!

Scissors are soaking in hot water, cutting begins when the wifey leaves! She knows I'm harvesting tonight but doesn't want to smell like it; instead she'll be getting a massage. ;-)

She left me with some harvest tunes - click.

I'll be near, so feel free to ask any questions!

Congratulations, you made it through.
Overall review of the new PAR tubes?

Why didn't you bother with the 72 hours?

Hey C.Indica, thanks for stopping by. As I have not yet finished the drying/curing process, the T5 review will have to wait.

I chose to harvest tonight out of convenience.

Trimming Complete

After six hours of trimming, Ms. Headband is cut and drying.

She's now hanging from the screen, which was placed back in the tent. Ventilation system is still active to minimize smell. More to come tomorrow.

Until then...
