haze probs

I've grown three types so far - cali orange bud, jock horror, and bagseed. I have never had issues with any strain. On two bagseed plants, I had deficiencies that I was able to correct with foliar feeding.

I bought some haze seeds on sale and figured Id try them - man they are a pain! They grew much taller than I had anticipated (but its ok I have the space), and half of them have the same problem.

The top half of the leaves are papery and discolored at the edges. Not the nute burn color - the discolored parts are still alive. Two of the 4 plants I was able to fix with extensive foliar feeding.

What gives with these haze plants? I gave them less nutes because I read in high times that haze plants are sensitive to nutrients. Did that mean that they needed a different ratio, not less?

I'm using a three part advanced nutrients, with big bud added in after the second week. I have three strains in the exact same setup - 400 wat hps, soil, same nutes. The others are growing beautifully while the haze plants look sick!

Anyone with haze growing suggestions? These will be the first and last haze plants I grow. Don't get me wrong, the healthy ones I got look amazing and high yielding, but Id rather the jock horrors that have no problems whatsoever.

You still might be giving her a lil to much food but it kind of sounds like a ph problem. My g13 haze was a very sensitive bitch I burned the fuck out of her going half or less strength nutes. Have you bveen checking ph? The nutes can change your ph drastically so by adding a lil less to one you might be throwing the ph off. I know with my tap water going full strength FF nutes it drops to a ph of 4 then if I give straight water next feed or less nutes the ph will be 7ish which is how it comes out of tap. I have to measure and keep ph up an down to keep it at a steady ph of 6-6.5ish. Basically the more nutes the more up I need the less nutes or no nutes I use some down.

Ph probs were my first guess, but if that were the case my solution woulda been to toss them. None of the other strains have any probs, so at the time (two weeks ago) they were barely into flowering and I have a clone army behind every plant ready to take its place. But, after foliar feeding two of them, they made a complete recovery. The other two seem to be only a little bit better. I think Im going to assume its a Ph problem and may considering tossing them.

I use advanced nutrients and they claim to have no Ph problems if you use it correctly. So far, their claims have been true as on the rest of my strains I've been dumping more and more (I'm up to 75% dosage every three days for my plants that are in the last two weeks). I only go up that much on healthy plants I am trying to fatten up in the last weeks.

Yeah, I don't even have a Ph meter. The digital ones are $$ and like I said, Id rather toss the pesky haze plants than spend $$ messing with PH. These will def be my last haze plants, I am loving the jock horrors. So far, they have been very easy to take care of and they stayed about the perfect height for my setup.

If you have PH probs, do the buds still grow? On those two plants, the buds are growing just as well as the healthy ones.

Man just grab ya a ph control kit with the ph tester. Like 20$ and you can see what happens when you add the nutes to your water. Any time you add something to the water it will change it's chemical properities so I always like to know how exactly it changed it. If you stick to regular feeding schedules then you will only need to mess with ph for a week or 2 then you should have a good handle on what needs what.

Also yeah they will still bud and finish with ph problems. If you didn't have healthy beautiful plants around them I bet they wouldn't look so bad. Plenty of people always have ph problems and never know it. It will effect yeild and can kill them if it gets to bad or lock them up but if a wanted to keep the plants without buying ph tester just go low str fert and use just plain water every other feeding. Most likely you're tap water is ph high and the nutes bring it down some so it should balance out in the soil. Good luck brother. :joint:
