there is no right way to top. I top at whim, sometimes topping a plant half a dozen times before it flowers just because of space.
all depends on your expectations. but they will most often recover no matter.

yes, tops make great clones here.
read a grow bible and you'll thank me later

you don't need to take that much off just take the growing tip off otherwise it was wasted time growing a top to just cut it off. if you want clones take them from a lower branch.

2 things can happen when topping.. you can top the right way or fim (fuck i missed) either way it'll be all good. just get temps dialed in along with watering schedule feed schedule humidity and ph and all will be well. I personally like my day night temps to be .... 75 day/68 night

Ideally you want to only cut the top growing tip while the 2 side chutes stay intact to become your fork but this way works too but you could have cut sooner if you cut the entire thing therefore save you a week or more of grow time.
