Hash Thread - making, medicating, enjoying.

So hash came up on another thread, and it seemed a few of us @lukio @numberfour @end_of_the_tunnel and myself seemed to have a special place for this product that's being lost in the shuffle of concentrates.

I'm hoping to start a discussion on making and taking hash. (and hopefully making and taking some of my own!)
Different methods, types, grades, smoke reports etc. --- whatever.

Hope this starts a fun discussion!

Hash Making

Here's some "hash" that I picked up at a local dispensary.

Looks like trim sift to me - the growers I trimmed for allowed us to keep our sift and scissor boogers to make moonrocks with.
This could have been pressed into hash, but it wouldn't be priced @ $18 / gram.

It's darker than average kief, has a slightly moist, sand consistency, burns evenly - and when heavily layered on a bowl; it has that hash effect.
IMHO not true "hash", but a really nice bowl topper at the end of the day. (ugh - looks like that bowl did all the work today - time to clean!)

I trolled a few menus this morning and found a Nasha Temple Ball - Red grade. (Also ordered a Hi-Fi Hop drink)***
$35 US for a 1g ball.
I'm not one to rep a brand often - everyone has their favorite - but this is an exceptional product IMHO. They deliver a true temple ball experience.
I've only had red & blue so far, simply because I haven't come across the other grades. IMHO blue is the nicer product, stronger and tastier - unbelievably sticky (think roofing tar)! Ends up everywhere - don't scratch your nose with your thumb....

Red weighs in around 56 - 60%thca, and crumbles - but it is sticky enough that it ended up on the pivot heel of my pocket knife in the pic.

Used an 18" beaker, a bit of flower for a base, and took two back to back rips.
SMOOTH, thick, herbal/minty.

VERY strong, immediate body high in one big head-to-toe wave- muscle aches from helping my friend remodel yesterday disappear - more chronic issues like my back are "quieter". Couch lock is dependent on activity - planning to take one more solid rip and go for a walk with the dog before getting into a garage project.
Clear headed, but stoned enough to follow mental rabbit trails - good mindset for my project.

***For someone who's been buying weed since the '80's, the whole legal online ordering is still kinda novel.
Delivery sounds cool, but it's more like the old days - somebody shows up at your house, you pass money into their car and they hand you a brown paper bag and drive off. I only use that when I can't leave the house to pick up myself.

Amazing what comes from water, screens & trim!

I washed a bit over 2 oz of trim & larf & came up with 6g total from my bubble bags.
I probably could have extracted more, but I didn't want to screw up my first attempt.

I decided to press each micron separately - to know what the differences are between the different grades.

160u - the smallest & hardest ball - VERY dense. Nice, mellow, creamy hash flavor. Clear headed, but good body high. A knife is needed to cut off a piece to smoke - too hard to get a small pinch, and a large pinch is too much. Starts off like full melt, then settles for a crust on top of the bowl.
If I had to guess, I'd say that this is what I was often gifted with by "The Old Hippie" from up north when I would visit Him.

73u - the large ball. FULL MELT!!! Softer than the small balls, catches fire easiest (oily), much stronger flavor and effect - Stoned & giggly with a major body buzz, narcotic, but not too sleepy. - My Wife's favorite. Pieces can be pulled off by hand; holding the flame a bit over the bowl will melt this easily.

25u - middle sized ball. Almost full melt, a little bit left after smoking. VERY narcotic. Quintessential hash flavor. Pocket knife is helpful for application. Immediate body wave, joints move a bit more freely & muscle aches are forgotten - maybe forgotten because this ball packs a punch. Very body focused, but a strong head high as well --- bed time smoke for sure!
NOTE - this bag was a PITA to process. The 25u screen causes the water to flow very slowly and the remaining trichomes clog the openings even further. BUT - it produced the most potent product.

After starting my first (tent) grow in May, it's hard to express how satisfying it is to light this up.

I need to get some new bubble bags soon I love the stuff but my bags are very old... looks like you are doing very well! If you don't mind me asking what are some quality bags out there now that are not just paying for someones hyped name on them lol


For some pics to add.. I got very into QWISO on my last grow.. sadly it is very hard to find iso now so and really I think I like bubble more.. but hey why not some variety!

I want to make some RSO, but I have the same problem - I hardly have enough to keep the bong clean these days!

How do you make QWISO?

I have Vivosun 5 gallon bags.
First impression is that they will be durable - rubberized interior & double stitching.

I could have gone with the 5 bag - everything collected from the 220 in the 160, the 73, & the 25.
They don't fit over a standard 5g bucket - my only complaint - but I found that I prefer collecting over a glass bowl anyway.
