Has anyone thought of using solar panels?

Just read about doing a whole solar home.

a 600w light is like running a fridge for 12hrs i would assume. However the fridge cuts on and off unlike the light.

Solar panels for what?
If u mean to power a grow light forget about it.
Panels are typically $1.24 a watt on average so u would need a lot of em.
Some people want to live off grid. If you are doing a small 400-1000w grow it is very feasible to use solar for a high budget. You can do a whole house DIY for around 10k

A 200 watt panel is around 250$ and depending where you live you will maybe get 200 watts out of it for 3-5 hours a day. Your 400watt grow light will need 12 plus hours worth of juice so that would mean you would need a significant battery bank just for that 400 watt light.

I know many people that have looked into going off grid lol I'm one of them. Not shittin on your idea more so preparing you the costs are 2-3x what u think

Panasonic is probably the best place to look for Solar panels, thats what my buddy told me..he has chinese knockoffs that were pretty expensive ten years ago and keeps up with that stuff.

guys I can get solar panels whole sale . there is no way you can have enough of them do even make a difference . they are rated by amp hours . it will take a shit load of them to power even a 600 watt hps .

It all depends on where you live and how much exposure you get. Having a 10kw system doesn't mean you'll always generate that much. You'll probably only generate 10kw for about 2 hours a day during peak exposure. It would cost quite a bit more than 10k for a single family home running a grow to be totally off grid. Adding in some wind turbines and a propane generator for a backup is always a good idea.

No but i did toy with the idea of running my 9volt pc fans in my veg box from a small panel placed to the side of my t5s rather than drawing those volts from the mains. In theory i thought this would work perfexctly.

A small grower could also get solar for his house as long as the est includes the light, it could probably be really cheap to power....
