Has anyone "successfully" de-nutted a herm?

I got a god damned herm!

I admit that I've known this secret for some time now...kinda like that black guy on George Romeros Dawn of the Dead remake when he refuses to tell anyone his prego GF has been bit.

Anyways, I thought about just de-nutting all the time...anytime. I've got the time for sure.

If time was not an issue and it was either SSX Tricky re-runs or babysitting a herm...what would you do?

I am going to try to de-nut whenever I see one. I thus far have pinched off 3 little nuts...

I'm concerned that yesterday I read a post where someone mentioned a ball sack forming inside a flower cluster? That's fucked up! Does that really happen?

Any takers for de-nutting or does giving any answer to me other than "toss it" make those with credibility here...less credible?

If you have other girls in with herm get it out it will pollinate them all and yes you will find seeds in the bud it produces you cant always find all of the bannanas.

So on Herms the balls could be anywhere?....everywhere a bud is then....yeah that makes sense....goodbye beautiful momma!!!:-(

SSX will always win. :bigjoint:



how far into flower are you? plants will often spit out a few male flowers within a female bud. if you are halfway thru flower and you just start to notice, then it might not be too bad. you will have a few seeds, but for the most part it will be good smoke. if it has been a hermy since the first signs of flowering then i'd say trash it.

Oh no man, I am still veggin waiting for the EZ cloner to spit out my new moms so I CAN flower. This one is Sweet Tooth and she has already had 3 obvious nuts pinched.

I have a spare 250 watt HPS that I could use and a closet nearby...what are the concerns for pollen transfer? Should I toss her? God she is gorgeous. I would totally have sex with her if I could find a hole big enough...sorry:-P

unless u want to breed it for seeds or somethin then toss it. i always wonder y ppl even have to ask if they should keep somethin that really poses a serious risk to their grow

Anything I screwed up on was all on me.

So even moving is out then?
 
na if u want to move it to a seperate area and bring one female to pollinate and get seeds then thats an option if u go wit clones then there is really no need

Alright here is the point:

I put a lot of time and love into this plant. She is nearly 3 feet tall and the diameter of the trunk (yeah I said trunk) is almost 2 inches...not circumfrance, diameter!
Yeah I know she's too tall but this is my first time through.
 
I think that if you move it to another area away from your other plants it will be okay, just let it bud and smoke it, eh?

Anyone think that will be allright?
 
if ya dont mind seeds.. and if u do keep him seperate then make sure u check on your girls then him then wash your hands and change your clothes b4 u go back to your girls.. pollen transfer is almost inevitable

Yeah, is pollen an issue? I do have an Ozn-jr that works really good. Hang this up outside the closet to eliminate pollen? Spraying water on the ball sacks?

Pinching whenever I see one? These are all things that will work to keep the pollen and seed count down.

I flowered a herm and it did't seem like the same smoke as the fem. I would not risk the rest of the fems for a plant with balls. I didn't like the smoke that came off the Herm plant. Sucks to say but I vote Kill it.
 
Pollen can travel a long way on just the wind (>100m), so if you are going to move it and flower it elsewhere, make sure to re-locate a good distance away. I have heard somewhere that if you have a plant that shows hermy signs, but you really want to flower it, if you pollinate just a few pistils it may inhibit male flowers from forming on the plant (if anyone can validate this, please do).
If the plant is showing pistils and "balls" before you even flower it, trash the plant.
 
I know im lose any credibility i may have by saying this but... Ive actually de nutted a hermie and it flowered fine and was decent smoke.. I vegged for 45 days.. In those 45 day i got about 15 male flowers. I just ripped the flowers off.. I know for sure there were no male flowers before flowering.. I got more the first week of bloom then the stopped coming.. In the end i got about lil over 2 zips off the plant. I only pulled like 5 seeds... Success in my book.. Ive only done it once tho so i cant it will work every time. Maybe i got lucky but just know it is possible.. You said you got the time,, roll the dice.....
