has anyone noticed varying male/female ratios based on breeder?

Odd question I guess... I've grown from a handful of different sources, and usually had a 70/30 or 60/40 female/male ratio. I got a bunch of strains from Oregon Green Seed, and I've been having a reverse ratio -- consistently mostly males.

This is a small sample group and could be totally random, just wondering if anyone else has noticed something like this, or if it is even possible for a particular strain to be bred in such a way that it produces mostly males???

I've noticed I get more fems depending on having lower temps in the veg room, higher temps and cooler light spectrum (2700k-3500k) also tend to produce more males. I think grow environment plays a bigger part than the breeder's choice of pollen (unless that pollen comes from a reversed female).
I've had terrible luck with freebies from World of Seeds, virtually all of which go from Female>Herm. The Afghani seeds they gave me All turned intersex mid flower.

I've heard high temps {+85F} when sprouting seeds gets you more males. Seeds are not set in stone with regards to male or female per say. They will be one or the other depending on lots of factors. Temps being one of them.

A lot of it depends on the time of year since my space is susceptible to outside temps there has been a range, and I've sprouted during various seasons over the last year. I'll have to be more aware of the temps when I sprout them in the future.

Thanks for the feedback --

i'm not a huge Jorge cervente's fan to say the least, but there's a page in the grow bible that discusses how to get more females vs males from reg seeds, and I believe everything that you mentioned was one of his tips..

in the summer, I get about 1/1, I just got 25 fems out of 40 in a cool closet (rarely ever over 70°), now my plants did get a bit stunted, but that's slightly over 3/5 ratio, on 40 plants.

In 2015 I had a very low male to female ratio, and didn't really get a great male to make seeds with. So the next year I was trying for more males. I had heard about the heat thing on SubCool's Weed Nerd show, so I figured I would try it. I plant in pots and trays of soil, and I watered the soil with hot hose water everyday. I got over 50% males, which was good for that strain.

Funny thing is, the F2 seeds I made had normal male to female ratios. They were always about evenly mixed. The f1's that I grew were 9 females, 2 males and a Herman.

Somewhere (I read it on the internet lol), there's a guide to predetermine the sex of a seed and the future plant coming from it, by the shape of the seed. I'm not claiming it's true or not, I just thought I'd mention what other people are claiming.

I met a guy who swore up and down that was true, and claimed to have been growing for 40 years. He showed me how to identify them using some of my seeds, the method is pretty straight forward. So I tried it on my current grow. I'm one week into flower and still sexing them (one strain is taking longer to show than the others) but so far of the three boys, two were "pre-identified" as boys, and one "should have been" a girl. I wouldn't call that an accurate method.

So how did you identify?
