Has anyone ever used one of these 8" fans 1575cfm

Picked up one of these at Harbor Freight Tools for 79.99 today and blows away the Can Fans that i been using for way over half the price. And picked up there variable router speed control for 19.99. For around 100 bucks you can get a variable speed fan that uses under 165 watts and its pretty quiet.

lemme know how it goes, i dont think there r any harbor freights around me? i know there was one where i lived in bakersfield.

Here are some pics. Using a 8X6 ducting reducer from home depot. Have to use 6' due to reflector inlet is 6'. Just split 8' ducting a few inches down and overlap seam and slides right into fan. Then put metal screws in where fan screen was bolted on. Opening is 7.75 inches across.

Who knows the performance with a load like a carbon filter or excessive ducting/lights though... I've heard you weren't suppose to use speed controllers on fans with variable switches/settings, maybe wrong though as I'm sure you've tested it. Seems like a great intake fan though, def half the cost of a Can 8" Max-fan (675cfm) for instance.

Have it hooked up with a 8'x39 carbon filter and 8X6 reducer into 1 1000w reflector and out. Sound is pretty much the same as can fan i was using. Air flow way better now. No more heat issues i been dealing with... Saved lots of cash going this route. And the fan speed controller you have to put fan on high setting not low setting to use controller. Watt meter shows 145 watts running. So not much power use.
 
hell yea. props are in order. i have thought about this so many times. to see it working is amazing.
