I may try it at a Laundry Mat...in case it screws up the machine. I think a front loading would work best.

Has anyone tried?

i have run them threw my dishwasher never the washer. If ya had them in a laundry sack it wouldn't mess up the washer. good bleachin would do them some good.

^^^ I'm with him, although I wash mine out in a bathtub and reuse a few times but that's about it. A 50L bag here is like $35 or $40 or so.

Are you suggesting that you dont ever clean them?---What about all that clay dust in your system? I pour them into my bath tub and it takes forever to get them to the point they don't leave a red residue in my hydro system.

What is this, an operating room? Lol! I wash mine in a 5 gallon bucket and go. After a grow, couple of hours in bleach, then overnight in plain ol water and ready to go.

I have had problems with bleach.
I use H202 at about 35% or better. Soak over the level of the rock, let set for 30 min or so, stir the rock with a broom handle for about 5 min, rinse off with fresh water good and they are good to go.
Where I am at rock is a dollar a litre. That can get expensive when you are using 250-300 litres a whack!!!!!
I have got rock I have had 2 years with out adverse affects.Trash cans full.
You can release the nutrient lock with the H202 and water. After that a good soak and rinse and they are ready to go.

Ya I do clean the dust, only takes 5 minutes though. The bags I buy have holes in the bottom 20% of the bag, I just set the bag in the bath tub and run RO water on the top and let the dust wash out of the holes on the bottom.

Yes I do wash and re-use mine. I don't have the luxury of taking a ten or 20 min drive to get new ones from my local store. My local store is more than 90 miles from my home and going there to pick up hydroton and nothing else is useless. Yes I do try and plan for when I will need them but it doesnt always work out for me. So a simple, quick, and easy way to clean those damn little pebbles would be useful for some of us.
