Harvesting Without Microscope

Hey I was just curious, what is the best way to know if they are done if you don't have a microscope? Let's say you have some sour diesel and the flowering time is usually 70-75 days. Do you just wait until most of the hairs are all brown? And also, is it normal for the lower buds to be finished before the big thick colas?

OK you cant tell just by the hairs. sum plants will not even turn red or what ever and they will be ready and others will be all red and still not finished so git a magnifying glass if you can look at the Christal's and when 10% or so of the Christal's are an amber you should pick.

Sour diesel is a pretty nice strain. Pretty expensive. You can get a microscope with up to 100x for only 10 bucks at radioshack. Get the one with the light

I can spend hours with my plant and that microscope.

The most fun method is not scientific. Cut off and chop up a few buds, place in Microwave for a few 15 second blast, airing it out in between. Rollit up and smoke it. If its the high your looking for, its ready to harvest. This may require several tests to get just the right buzz.lo VV

there is a better method than this that doesnt destroy as much thc.

place your fresh bud on a peper towel inside a tupperware container.

cover that tupperware container with a damp-wet (not dripping) paper towel

place the lid almost all the way on

microwave for one minute at a time on low or medium heat checking each time to see if the bud is ready. if the wet towels try out re-wet them, if the dry towel under the bud gets wet, replace it.

still not nearly as good as cured stuff, but probably one of the best ways to get smokeable bud in less than 24 hours
