Harvesting. Pink Color, powdery mildew, or something else?

I am in the process of pretimming before drying and noticed some pink powdery looking color on one of the buds. only one part looks this way. i am not sure if it is mold or what, the rest of the bud around it looks perfect, and I didn't come accross anything else like this on the plant. Or anyone of my others for that matter. My humididy and temps are low, so I think I am just trippin. Has anyone seen anything like this?

The bottom line is that if this is even a risk, I will ditch this bud, I would never want to risk a patients safety.

It's common for bud-rot to show up on the largest buds/colas, strains that make very dense colas are more susceptible to it

Ok thanks for the opinions guys, I am going to ditch the main cola, luckily the lower buds weren't affected.

Reasons like these make me happy i clean my trimmers with rubbing alcohol every plant -- no disease transfer. Can I assume that because the rest of the buds look healthy after detailed inspection, that they are healthy to smoke?

Personally i would never do that, i just cut out the rotten bits and throw those bits away lol
sometimes only a small section of a large cola is damaged
when its fully damaged by bud rot it turns the colas to mush inside .. ewww

peace :)

yea, it was pretty bad so i ditched it. I am glad to hear this isn't that big of a deal. One cola out of 80 or 90 tops is no biggy. I just wanted to make sure I didn't have some mold growing on my shit spreading toxic spores to all of my other buds. Feeling better over here! thanks

if you cant see any fluff on the bud its fine to smoke, bud rot is very common, but with good practice you can keep it at a very small percentage of your total yield
you may of even smoked some affected bud in the past without realizing
sometimes you do not know the rot is there until you open up a large bud after it has dried

Dont worry about it too much, the best way to prevent it or minimize bud rot is to find strains that are not susceptible to it in the first place
these tend to be plants that spread their yield over many colas instead of fewer very large colas

try to keep humidity 40-50% or lower at all times, plenty of air circulation around the plants 24-7
the rot occurs because the environment inside a large cola gives the rot perfect conditions to grow from the spores that are always floating around in the air anyway ,
you could look into ozone and uv bulbs to clean the space too this helps with things like powdery mildew also
it is very hard to avoid some bud rot, over a large crop its more common than not, mositure becomes trapped inside the large colas,
the first sign of bud rot inside a cola is normally a single small dead leaf in the cola that has turned completely yellow may even have a few brown spots on it, while all the other bud leaves are fully green
i tend to chop the cola down if i find it early or remove the buds that are damaged when its still growing, as it could spread to other buds close by

peace :)

The plant needs innoculations(sea kelp) and beneficials to be applied through veg and into flowering. The resistance and root zone vigor makes for a healthy immune system and a strong plant. Also, low humidity and temps can invite pests to thrive especially MITES!!! I would hack off the affected area and then some and see what happens. Maybe just cut the cola off, then the tumor, stick it in a glass of water for 5 days in the fridge to flush it and halt any residual microbes from establishing. I have never tried this with flowers but cuttings dont seem to suffer at all. Try it for science sake.....lemme know what happens.

closely inspect and give em a big whiff, if you get his musty/peppery smell, they're might be fungus spores on those as well.

I give in to those who are much more experienced than me, but the photo looks like just a dead sugar leaf or two to me. I've seen that much more than bud rot, but some people could be calling this the same thing. I just try to trim out the brown leaves, I've only had one real instance of rot (lost the whole plant).

yea luckily so far it has only been seen on one cola, and i have been inspecting the bud for a while and everything looked good. My temps are low, humidity is low, so I am going to assume I am OK on this one. There is no weird smell or look. In fact this stuff is perfect.
