Harvesting Before Hairs Turn Brown

Does anyone know of any strains that are harvested while the hairs are still white?

Or does every strain turn brown towards harvest?

Is there ever a time that the trichomes start to turn cloudy or amber while the hairs are still white?

I have a bagseed strain that is doing just that....the trichomes are just starting to get really cloudy and some are starting to turn a little amber...but the hairs are still white and fresh...

Those hairs are not reliable. You really need to examine trichs under magnification. Take samples from multiple places on each plant then average together on what % are amber. I harvest at about 25% amber.

Thank for the help guys.... Its a soil grow, 5 gal. buckets, 450 watts HPS, 260 watts flourescent 5000k, veg for 7 weeks when presex was clearly visible, now going into 6th week of flowering....

I am showing a little problem with iron....too much of it i think.... Getting a few tiny rust colored spots on all the upper growth about the top 1/3 rd of the plants...

I just wasnt sure if there were any reasons or examples to harvest before hairs turn brown... After microscoping the culprits, I see that there are not as many amber trichs as i thought, but still just wondering.

Im sure its due to a lack of patience but they seem to have stopped growing and I was wondering how big of a change is there in bud size and potency from week 5 to final harvest.

They do stop growing in the final weeks and that's when you see the most bud growth. Just remember, 10 or 20 growers harvest too early for every one that harvests too late.

you still have awhile to go if you in the 6th week. The buds really start to swell and fill out those last two weeks almost double in weight. be patient and it will be worth it. you waited this long whats two or three more weeks?
