i am growing 6 plants right now and they are about a foot tall. They can get about 4 feet maybe a tid bit more but a shelf is at 56 inches above the soil. When should i flower them so they dont get too tall. I am hoping to get atleast 2 oz a plant. about how tall do they need to be to get that. this is my first grow so all advice will be useful.

imo

i would top the plants now, down a couple nodes
throw away or clone those (depending on how adventurous you are)

let them recover a week or two, then flower

pics would help too!!!

best of luck!

there can be a variety of different benefits...

it'll give you two cola's instead of one

it promotes the side growth so that you get more budding sites
-also, if you do LST (low stress trainig), it'll give you more branching to manipulate

some strains, like blueberry, don't get maximum yeild unless topped

topping makes bushier plants instead of taller plants, so you can maximize smaller spaces if needed

and in enough space, a topped plants can yeild a lot with proper lighting

well... sort of in that it won't grow taller for atleast a couple days to a few days... but it will increase the side branching at the internodes...

so it stunts vertical growth yes
but it always promotes side growth

best of luck!!!

bud now...or within the next week bc they usually grow between 2 to 3 times they're starting budding point
