Seems no one wanted this one so i took her home roughly 3 or 4 wks. ago. the first pic is when i first got her then other more recent. I'm wondering if this might have been an outdoor strain by the way it grows ,(i think, maybe) I once grow a 12 ft hurricane plant in my living room so maybe some of that experience might help here, although i find the info i've read on this site particularly helpful. Cheers to you all!!

It seems i forgot most of those detaily things so: I grow under 5 cfl's, and a 2 foot grow floro but ill prolly switchthem out for a 150 hps soon. I use a local hydro shops' own blend for nutes(2 part) 18/6 hrs. light other than that it's zen- "If i was a plant ,what would i want?"

I should take out some of the fan leaves (i think) to increase penetration, all i've really done is bent her over to grow out the middle and give tops. This plant more of a learning experience, then maybe i'll get all serious. Anyway ideas or opinions are welcome.

I'm gettimg a lil' more serious with this now and picked up a 250wt hps today and might upgrade it to 400 possibly. Will post pics in a few days as its day 1 with new light.

i wouldnt call that happy. sorry if it seems rude but if it was in my grow room i would light it on fire =(

no problem , it is alot better than when i got it. Anyway, you figure it would be better to scratch that one and start again? It is alot better than when i got it, it was a skinny weed. now at least i have a prpoer light and set up to do better. I'm here to learn and have a laugh or two. Peace

Wow , rzza, checked out your w.widow grow, very nice. Gives me something to aspire to- Impressive. I learn the techniques here but don't have an experienced eye to say what is good or not.Yet.

maybe flush it and start a heavy training on it. you know its a girl yet? if so then chop all the branches off starting at the bottom ....go up till the best looking node and stop there. then cut the plant in half right above that node, leaving only two branches ...or two leaves where branches will grow. then mist with water and take a pic for me.

Really, i was going to strip off all the skinny long ones down low anyway ,but the part about cutting it in half.Really? Most of the growth is at that end, and i''ll be left with a stick with a couple branches on it or is that what i want and am trying to do? This plant seems to wants to grow tall ,i thought that i could bend it over and got the whole length of plant to develop tops. Oh yes i'm fairly certain its a female. It was cloned from female 'who knows what' -a gift to me- anyway there are lil white hairs crossing each other at almost every node, branch and leaf. By the way, i just want to completely understand what you are saying before i start cutting.

I was just thinking, i wonder if i would'nt be better off to take 5 or 6 good clones off this plant and begin again with proper training? It's obvious that i havent trained this other one at all ,just let it grow,so i could get rid of it and train the clones proper. I wanted more than 1 plant anyway , this could be a good thing.I would be behind by about 1.5-2 months in the grow but it woulnt be like starting from seed, anyway. Good idea or should i start this 1 flowering and hope for the best?(it still gets 18 hrs light now) and i use my nutes at 1/2 strenght just to be safe . Thanks in advance for any help or opinions

Hello!

Nice light upgrade. You have a real horticultural grade light now. It'll make all the difference.

I am a bit concerned by that specimen, though. Note how it has not developed the characteristic multi-bladed leaf of a cannabis plant. All healthy marijuana plants will display the five, seven, nine, and up to twelve bladed leaves in late veg and into flower... that is regardless of strain. If you do not see a regular pattern of at least five to seven bladed leaves, we have deformity. I wouldn't clone that, either, as it may carry on the deformed trait.

You can flower it out, but based upon my experience, such an odd-ball plant structure will invariably result in odd-ball sub-standard bud. My advice is to cull (kill) that sucker and start fresh with a healthy clone or a reliable feminized seed. Don't continue to waste your electricity on that thing. It obviously hasn't reacted well to some kind of shock.

Peace.

Hm. I don't know. That plant never got past a three bladed leaf. A seedling should show a five blader by its third or fourth node (sometimes second on freakishly vigorous ones). I've worked with clones that came with three bladed leaves, but they develop their five or more bladed leaves in a hurry at re-veg. The fact that it was not able to break free of the three bladed leaves and is now showing single bladed leaves are signs of severe stunting. IMO best to cut his losses early and start again with reliable genetics.

It's nothing solanero did wrong per se. The plant just came in a bad way.

Edit:

I think here would be a good place to give my lecture on number of leaf blades and its relation to plant vigor. Different strains have different levels of vigor, of course, but of the more vigorous cannabis strains I have grown, I have seen a twelve bladed leaf. It's an odd sight as the leaf has no more room for more blades, so the new blades grow inward at the center of the leaf... completely maxed out on blade space... Has anyone else seen this? I've seen eleven and twelve bladed leaves in some of the pix by other growers here at RIU as well.

This is directly indicative of the plant growing to its maximum genetic potential. If you have seven to eleven bladed leaves, you're doing really well. Conversely, if you have three and fewer bladed leaves, you have a plant operating well below its genetic potential and moving into genetic inferiority / deformity. Absolutely not a plant you want to multiply by cloning. Cloning is a meticulous process not to be squandered on deformed genetics.

its not for every strain like ya said ....i had more than one that stayed at 3 blades all the way up. i have some that throw 11 (not twelve). its just dependant on the traits it carries.

that said .....im cutting that plant or my wrists if thats me ...

i am so bad with words ...i should elaborate.

my point is, your right .....that thing is revegging and should have its regular leaf structure (whatever that is being 5, 7 or 9 etc). i just felt necessary to mention the above =)

You've seen a plant stay at three blades all the way up? I, personally, don't think that's a trait of any given strain, but rather a reaction to stress / shock. Any strain can stay at three blades if its development is stunted.

like i said i have had a couple strains that stay at three blades all the way up. its not due to stress, my garden is perpetually harvested so i have multiple strains running at the same time. i had a white widow that did this and a critical mass, perhaps others as well but those are the ones i remember. the ww i cloned and kept around for a while and did it every time. its definately a carried trait.

Thank you, Thank you. I really appreciate finally getting an educated opinion on this plant. I wondered what it was that looked different! I did notice that the leaves were only 3 sections, but didnt know that was a deformity or whatnot(if it is) . Anyhow i have already put a call out for 4-5 new clones from a grower ,as i have the light now to do that many. I always wondered why does'nt this plant look like all the others i see on RIU, but couldnt put my finger on the exact diff. I thought maybe it was a strain trait. Duh, now i know better. I won't have too much trouble 86ing this one that will give mr the results i'm after. Thanks guys i'de rather do this properly so new plants it is. :-P:leaf:

Haha, at first i was kinda thinkin ....'Crap ,because of a retarded plant i spent like 300 bucks on y'now ....stuff , and set up a lil closet grow and this and that, all the dumb stuff that ppl do on their first grow and for what!? BUT , actually this is a blessing in disguise , cus i'm sure that i'll feel better when i have new plants and can accurately track the progress and have it make sense. Instead of thinking, " Hmm, mine does'nt look anything like that!! Hmm? Oh well! AND everything is already bought and set up and i'm past the stupid noob pitfalls. Cool :-P:idea::leaf:
