I stopped using perlite a little while ago because coco has good enough drainage on it's own it seems so I'd rather use that space for good soil/more coco you know?

That being said, what you're suggesting is the mix that I've been using for the past year and I had good results. Except I do this. I buy those 5kg coco bales and get it all expanded and such. Then I take 1/4th bag of happy frog and sprinkle it over the coco as well as 1/4th bag of ocean forest, then mix together. This mix has been awesome for me, you get the benefits of both types of soil (I forget what ocean forest has that HF doesn't but HF comes with mycorrhizae where as OF doesn't) plus you also get the benefits of the coco. Winning soil mix imo, especially when combined with subcool's super soil recipe and compost teas.

Hes talking about the happy frog soil conditioner, the big yellow bales I believe? It comes in a big yellow bale with red lettering... I bought a couple bales of it and its not exactly a good mix... I used some mixed with perlite and some amendments on one of my plants in a 7gal smart pot recently and my plants arent liking it... Its definitely not well suited for container gardening... I was using it mixed with other soil-less mixes and amendments, perlite etc... and it wasnt bad but alone with amendments and perlite my plants didnt fill out the pots with roots well, after more than a month that one plant still isnt really doing as well as my other plants in the same containers with a different soil mixture (roots, amendments etc...) that were transplanted a couple weeks after that one, the others have passed that one in size already...

I'd say if your gonna use it, use it to stretch another soil mix out rather than using it as your base... If you already have it, mix it with another soil like ocean forest or regular happy frog (brown bag) in a 1/1 ratio... 1 of those 3cf bales mix to 2 bags of ocean forest.... add some perlite and some more worm castings/compost along with some lime, and whatever other amendments you plan on adding should be a good mix to start with.... I really cant suggest using it on its own unless your going to add it to your outdoor garden to condition the soil thats already there which is what this product is intended to do....

It is good stuff. I use the HFSC in all my mixes as a great fungi/bacteria booster. It's great in teas too. It also has extras like guano, EWC, humus, and humic acid. Your recipe for coco, perlite, and HFSC will hit the spot!

I shot an email to Foxfarm a few months ago and they said to mix it 50-50 with OF,HF,Roots,ProMix, etc. I have never used it. I was curious about it to mix with promix. I like to play around with side things. Now I'll have to give it a try. Any one else with experience with it?

I like your style...it's a lot like mine. It does save $. I've had my bale for almost a year now. However, I don't see much of a diff with or without the stuff!? Maybe it's just b/c I have microbes with no matter what I use.

Thanks man. I try to do the best I can while having a super busy life yet try to give my ladies good attention, heres my white rhino, I already took a top off it and got half a qrt mason jar full, cant smoke yet due to only been cured for 2 weeks but it looks good, should be a couchlocker.

Shes in coco cut w 15 % perlite and its in a 10 gal smart pot, 8 weeks into flowering. It looks close to being done, although many would say it already is but the trichromes are not showing any smber yet that I see, I want at least 50 % amber. I also been giving her water only for the past 2 weeks and shes startin to lose some leafs.
