Hanna Wiped Out My Plants

After a flood took out 8 of 10 of my plants (when they were young), and I moved locations, and after a tree fell on the two survivors, and after I nursed them back to health... Tropical Storm Hanna has wiped out my two remaining plants. I'm so pissed. Man... all those weeks and months of trudging for miles with pounds of soil and water on my back... all for nothing.

The buds were just starting to smell nice and sweet. I think I was 2 weeks from harvest, to be honest. I should've just harvested before the storm. Damnit! There must've been 2 feet of water standing on them for a couple days. The water pushed the tree that had fallen earlier and just took out the plants. It rolled on top of one and smashed it to bits. The other one is completely withered, no green at all, just brown, withered leaves and buds that look rotten. I think the tree rolled over it and then onto the other one where it stayed.

Last year I got all males. Now this. Hopefully third time will be a charm. I'm so upset about this. I hate that I have to crawl around in snake and tic infested swamps to fucking grow. I want to have a little cry. :wall: I'm going to check back in a week when I get back in town, but I don't think the plant has any chance of recovery. Maybe I'll take some pics, though I'll have to put a warning on that thread "warning: graphic death scene."

Oh well. I guess that's just another lesson learned. Next year I'm planting all in pots instead of the ground (so I can move them before storms). I'm also going to have multiple locations.

Guess it's time to order some more seeds...

Damn man that sucks big time. I'm looking at that creep Ike moving in sat & sun. I might just harvest some of the riper ones in case. Damn, sorry for your loss.

Thanks for the sympathy. Believe it or not, it actually makes me feel better to vent and know other growers "get it". My wife could give a shit... she'd probably prefer them to be dead. LOL.

Anyway... yeah, Ike is a fucking monster. Harvest early if you're in its path, or if you aren't near the coast and will probably get just rain at least dig up a couple of the plants and get them in some pots out of low lying areas if you can. That's what I should've done.

Outdoors is always a gamble. After seeing your post I'm about to yank. I mean they look good right now and if I was greedy about letting them swell another week or two and lost everything I'd be very very pissed at myself. I think I'll take a gamble on the late bloomers though. Too bad your wife doesn't understand how much mental, physical, effort, and work goes into this little venture. I've got about 24 hrs before shit hits the fan...
