Hanging plants in trees?

That's a really cool idea!
LR2 could be a good strain to try I think. Feminized seeds would be probably better too. You don't want to climb a tree for a dude. Maybe some can breed an orchid like variety: Rapunzel Ryder or Purple Pan.

Cpl problems with your idea. First of all , in a tree it will be limited to how much sun it will recieve due to the canopy on the host tree and become tall and stretchy looking for sunlight. Once it gets tall and stretchy it will probably fall over and break at the base of the stem from any breeze that blows thru or around the tree and swings the basket. Next, it will probably get root bound in that hanging basket if it does manage to grow. Next, It will grow up into the tree limb and chains supporting the basket. Next, A lot of plant eating insects (Aphids, beatles, locast, grass hoppers ect) live in,on and around trees for the food source that the tree provides and that handing baskets of bud to be will look like a main course at a Chinese buffet. Next....aw shit, you get the picture, But that is only my opinion and my 2 cents. But shit, if ya go with some bag seed and a cheap basket its worth a try.

Growing in a tree or growing on the ground near a tree will bring the same critters. Neat idea thats been thru here and back again but its kind of hard to care for something hanging in trees

If you managed to hang a LR2 on an eucalyptus and tie it so it can't swing there should be no problem with "Aphids, beatles, locast, grass hoppers ect", swinging and height though. Just theorizing again.

Years ago, in the swamps of Louisana, they discovered a grow operation on platforms in the tree's canopy. They used a platform simliar to a treehouse foundation.

It must have been a bitch tryin to go un-noticed loading all that builing material and grow equiptment into flat boats at the boat launch and then luging it up some 100 year old bald cypress (only tree that grow in a Lousyana swamp) But I guess it could happen. I hear of people doing gurrilla grows in the delta in the ultra rich delta soil towards the mouth of the MS river.

Wasnt there a thread on here with a lad growing up in some trees before?

Dunno but I reckon if you tie it so it isn't swinging in the wind, it should be fine. Like the other bloke said, lowryder would probably be the only option as it's likely it'd get rootbound pretty quickly. I just thought that it would be better hanging near the top of the canopy so it recieves more light and wouldn't be as humid as on the ground. Maybe if you stashed ladders next to it... I could be on to something :-P

A friend and I utilized this method years ago when renting an old farm house. We didn't want to grow in the house but, there were 3 weeping willows growing in a clump down in the creek bottoms. We made a chain harness with 2 pulleys that was connected to 2 trees in the top, this lifted a 60" wooden ammo crate Filled with pigshit and potting soil. Started em indoors with 4-40w tubes. There was a perfect 5' hole between the trees up top. The trick was getting the chain up there.

That sounds pretty cool. I'm seriously considering trying it, I have a few hanging baskets lying around and I can get cuttings for next to nothing so they're pretty disposable. Not that I want to dispose of them deliberately, what with herb being sacred and all. :-P

In Florida it is a common practice to place weed in the crowns of Palmettos... it hides them, yet allows light and drainage.

I am unaware of the strains but if you put your weed in 3 gallon pots they never get out of control. Palmettos hide everything.
