Handling Extracts

Well I seem to have reached the point that I would rather make BHO than look at Mason jars full of bud. Ive been using trim and good scrap for years but it never occurred to me that the yield was worth the investment even if I used good buddage.
My problem is the difficulty of handling the crap. It sticks to everything and I just find it a bit of a PIA. Sticking razors and scrapers along with black thumbs and fingers. I saw a video of a guy playing with the crap on a little round colored mat. What was that? Is there a way I can make BHO more like the hash of old that you could smoke in any pipe?? I know I don't want to use camel crap. Is there another method I should be using than blasting butane?
Oh and just for fun I got 5.2 grams from a zip of Sour Diesel and Silver Pearl Haze. IDK but is that respectable yield?

Your bho isnt like the hash or oil from the old days because your using butane. Theres a 100 better ways than butane. Unless you really like the wax that comes from non polar solvents and all the ridiculous time and tec it takes to defat and purge. Whats the going rate now like 5 days in the vacuum oven with multiple "cake flips"
That leaves you with lots of polar solvent options. Mostly denatured.
Ask a organic chemist how they would do it and or how their predecessors have been doing it for about 700 years now.

This bho is a fad pushed by industry and oil companies that wave around a fda approval saying butane is safe for botanical extracts. Purfumes body scrubs. Things like that. Appantly that translates into being ok to smoke or eat. I didnt know the fda gave guildlines on federally illigal drugs. But according to animal crackers they do! Well if you believe enbridge its ok. And the fda says lots of ridiculous things are ok in small amounts. To each his own i guess.
pharmaceutical companies or chemist or doctors or pharmacologist will have different opinions and methods than the gas company. Merck pfizer and dow weren't buying the tech these industrialist were pushing to get on this medical cannabis gravy train but lots of new start up companies did. So here we are today. 95% of people believe co2 or butane are the only ways.
If your as old as me. The stuff you may have seen in the 50's 60's and 70's may have been ethanol extract. Possibly carbon filtered. Or you may have had some iso. Kind of depends on where your from too.
Most likley you had solvent free hash made with one of a dozen different ways or ice hash. I lived in Europe for 4 years and it was all morocan hash. Thats a good pipe hash for you.easy to make. Theres always rosin pressing too. Fast cheap and easy
