Hairs during Veg

Harvest Sun

Active Member
I received two plants as clones ( OG Kush and BBK) and started them under 24 hour light, and after a couple weeks I noticed some hairs starting to come out. Now after 4 weeks of veg the hairs have turned a little brown at the ends (not that golden amber you usually see at the end of flowering). I have kept it under 24 hour light nonstop (minus an hour or two here and there to do some construction on their home), so there is no chance they were tricked in to flowering early. Should I continue the 24 hour light period until I'm ready to flower or should I just start flowering?

My gut feeling is that the plants are already flowering and I could be doing damage to them by continuing the long light period.

Any help or insight is greatly appreciated.

Picks would help but don't worry about the long veg time as you'll get a better yield in the end. You could be seeing preflowers which is normal. If they weren't clones then I'd be looking for balls but you're good.

were the clones cut from mothers that were already flowering? cuz in that case you want to keep them on 24/0 till they start re-vegging. the way you will know if you have to re veg them is the new growth will start with a 1 finger leaf then put out 3 finger leaves and as it reverts it will grow normally

I believe these hairs are preflowers, and they will brown and receed until you are ready to flower. Keep in mind that the plant will get 2 to 3 times its size during the flowering "stretch" This is when the lights are flipped to 12/12, and before any flowers happen, the plant will start alternating nodes and grow very large to accommodate the flower structure. (This happens more dramatically on indoor indicas, not so much on huge outdoors or sativas.)
