I went to Cabela's today to buy a bobber- one of those teardrop-shaped ones that the line passes through, I sometimes use those to cast a fly with my spinning rod

Well, they didn't have those, so I checked out the gun section. A young feller asked if I wanted to see anything and I told him I hadn't seen anything interesting yet, but that I was somewhat shocked at the prices. He said that ammo in particular was really expensive and I told him I hadn't bought any ammo in years as I handload pretty much everything I shoot, including .32acp (!) and that I bought 5,000 22cal. bullets 15-20 years ago for 6 cents apiece and 5,000 WSR primers for $10.50/1,000
He said the primers are $7/100 now
I have several cans of powder that I bought for $13-$15
A lot of Hogdon's Universal Clays which I use to load all my pistol rounds except for .38 target ammo when I like to use Unique

I bought lots of components ~20 years ago when they were cheap and I was president of a local gun club
when i quit shooting competitively (25 years ago) I quit reloading. I was on NRA rifle and pistol shooting teams and shot a sh*t load of skeet and sporting clays. NRA was mostly .22 & i almost got into Cowboy shooting for a min back in the day but never really did it competitively. Still have a single action .45 and a double barrel 12ga Coach gun. I was shooting 2000 rnds .22 a week on the NRA shooting teams.

go price .22mag ammo..... :o
Only gun that i lost in the fire was my old ruger 10/22. All the big dogs were in storage. Made sure and grabbed my grandmothers old crackshot 22. That was in my house too.

I’d love another one for out here bro.
I was just at sportsmans warehouse in Rocklin. The biggest one around. I went there to check out their fishing rods and to get some shorts. I went to the gun section asked if they have any 10/22’s and nope! Got any 22 lr? Nope. Oh well. Guess it isn’t time for a new 22.

You might check around with some pawn shops. I've gotten a few good gun deals at pawn shops....best of luck.....you didn't happen to see any 5.56 did you?

Oh yeah. Good idea.
No. Didn’t even check on other ammo and i don’t have anything in 5.56 so i def wasn’t looking for that.
I had all my reloading gear in storage. If i wanted to crank out some rounds to go shooting all i’d have to do is set it up and get to work. Have lots of bullets powder and primers left over from the last time.
