gun law reform... please!

there are a few legal firearms in my house. My gay partner owns them. They were his fathers. They are all locked in the gun safe. One of them is loaded. I know which one... in case anyone comes into my house. Its a totally different situation when I am out in society... where, IN AMERICA, everyone should be civil.
Do you deem yourself responsible? If so consider it. There are crazy evil people in this world, do not be a victim. Buy some pepper spray, get a taser, take self defense classes. There are many options for you to consider. For many a handgun is the best. You have the right and responsibility to protect yourself from villians, do not let anyone convince you otherwise.

Not too long ago, even the right to defend one's house with a gun was being challenged. We're finally getting to a point where states with restrictive carry laws are in the minority. I'd like that trend to continue, and that requires my fellow citizens to please, please not fall for the idea that we can restrict gun crimes into nothingness. Jmo. cn
Carry laws increase and violent crime plummets to all time lows for the nation, coincidence?

Im glad in Texas we are allowed to keep our firearm in our vehicle while at work. They know that armed innocent civilians can deter or incapacitate the enraged shooter.

Nothing wrong with GUNS, they cannot think or squeeze their own triggers. It is the person holding the weapon who kills people.

why can't we just send all these lovers of death and weaponry.... and a passion for a skewed view of God... to the middle east?
Because, depending on who makes the judgement for who gets on the "train" to the middle east.......I might be on it.

I am no lover of death, and I don't have a weaponry fetish. Still, I think punishing the good for the deeds of the bad is a fraught policy. cn

I never said I wanted to try to obstruct your right to own weaponry... so... you fuck off.

I certainly would like to obstruct the rights of these people who have done these horrible things. How can we weed them out?

no, you want to obstruct the rights of those who you think MIGHT do things you dont approve of.

if peta ran the US then hunters would be prohibited from owning guns, but mass murderers would get trophys based on their bodycounts.

if hamas ran the US, jews and christians (and polytheists and athiests and agniostics, and buddhists etc...) would be prohibited from owning guns, but terrorists would be issued their weapons by the government.

if al gore ran the US guns would have to be carbon neutral and lead free, but any murders you commit would earn you carbon offset credits.

you may feel confident in your (or the congress') ability to decide who deserves the honor of the second ammendment's privilege but i dont have ANY confidence in the congress or any other asshole who thinks they know better than myself whether i can own a gun.

nobody's talking about punishing anyone. If you have to go through an extra step of a background check before receiving your gun.... how is that really a punishment? I'm not saying that is the solution to this problem. But gun owners, including my household, have to be open to hearing some ways we can restrict gun access... specifically to the insane.

Any canadians out there? If you really want a gun you can have one right? rifles.... firearms... The government knows you have them... they approved you for them... everything is OK.

The background checks are already in place. And Canadians have messed-up policies toward handguns imo. Those are the ones suitable for concealed carry, which would be a most powerful agency for reducing and containing crimes like this one and the Batman shooting. cn

another thing. I am talking about gun reform not prohibition. I don't believe the government should take away everyone's gun or limit the majority of people who want to own a gun from owning one. More than a few commenting have jumped to those conclusions... even after I had expressed it earlier as 'reform.'

Does that include all the people that smoke pot on this website
that "By Law" are inelgible to possess firearms?
incorrect as usual. only those convicted of a felony (any crime punishable by 1 year in prison or more) are prohibited from owning or possessing a firearm, and even then 7 years after the end of your sentence you can get your civil rights back.

those who have never been convicted are in no way prohibited from owning firearms.

even cultivation enthusiasts (like most of us) are not felons until we are convicted of such crimes, which in my state would require federal charges over a state authorized garden patch of less than 20 square feet. i would enjoy the legal embranglements that follow, and the severe testing of the controlled substances act, as well as the 1968 crime bill and the "commerce" clause since i have no intention of selling even a single gram of this precious herb.

I'm pretty sure federal law prohibits gun ownership by potheads or alcoholics. Chesus I cant even read that form but I think I know what it is.
