in this day and time everone should have atleast 1 for home protection.my choice for this is a 12ga semi auto with the plug out and hand loaded(bb`s for shot) 3"mag shells.not alot of range but you can say peek-a-boo thru any wall in the house.

Thats some serious firepower, I'd say your ready. Lets hope it's not the U.S. Army we have to fight when they come to take our guns. There are some serious nut jobs in congress that want to outlaw guns. When they do that, I'll bury mine and say I sold them! Power to the people!

11 is about right. You dont give it to them to walk the streets but I would get my kid a 22 or something and teach them gun safety and show them how guns can kill. In other words teach them to respect guns and that they are not toys . I think I was about 8 years old when my grand father took me on my first bird hunt. I ended up being a better shot than him at 8. lol.

Guns should be banned. Are you insane? Ever killed anybody before? Why do you need a gun? Are you afraid? You think it's okay to teach an 11 year old how to handle a gun? Not only handle, but actually buy them a 22? What difference does it make what calibre it is? You'll buy them a gun but not allow them to carry it... doesn't matter, they can get guns from somewhere else, fuck... in your country they'd probably find one lying around in the street.

No wonder your country's so fucked-up.

I agree with you widow maker that you need to teach children what is right and wrong when it comes to firearms.......

5.56mm (.223) for both the C7 and C9, which is why I would rahter something like the 7.62mm C6 which will stop a bad guy with one shot.........all hate the 5.56mm (.223) round...poor penetration on a cinderblock structure and even torso hits cant be reliably counted on to put the bad guy down

Civilians should not have access to firearms. Too many nutters out there, prepared to execute little kids. I actually cry when I hear about something like that Amish thing. I can't help it, I put myself in the kids shoes, their final thoughts etc and I just burst into tears. How could someone hurt a child like that, we know how to deal with people like that in jail.

I come from a country where there are very few guns, and I have lived my entire life without the need for a gun. If someone fucks with me I deal with it through a beating, if I can't do it myself I call on someone that can. Guns are bad, just like nuclear weapons.:peace:

For every responsible person there is an irresponsible one just waiting to execute a load of kids.

In our country, it is presumed by birthright that the citizens have the right to life, liberty and property. What good is a right, if you have no method of defending that right? The police aren't going to defend you ... they are after-the-fact. They take the reports after a crime is committed, then they try to solve the crime. Here in the states, the courts have ruled that the police are not responsible for protecting you. They are only a deterent.

Every totalitarian government, when taking over a country, makes the ownership of firearms illegal. Ever wonder why that is?

Here's some history for you ...

If guns were banned you wouldn't need one in your house to defend it. Anyone comes to my yard they've gotta get past the most loyal dog I've ever had the privilege to own, then they gotta get past my 2 hockey sticks.

Do you know that in this country at the moment they are trying to pass a law on the dangerous dogs act? The law will mean that if your dog bites a trespasser on your property you will be held responsible and will be taken to court for a criminal offence.

Sorry to go off thread, but I'm fighting a losing battle. We won't convince each other of otherwise. My society is a lot different to yours. I really can't understand this need to arm yourself with guns.

Oh, and the 11 year old thing. That's just sick.

Well its better to have a gun and not need it, than need one and not have it.

As far as the 22 thing. If I got a bigger gun it would knock the kid down. lol.

I wouldnt need a gun if no one else in the world had one. But here everyone has one. And a lot of those people are severe criminals. When I was 18 I got kick doored. I wasnt there but they beat up my gf tied her up with the phone cord and ended up putting her in the hospital. That stuff does happen. Now with the Nola's (new orleans louisianna) getting released from prison from the hurricane they have been robbing and killing to survive. They have nothing else to lose. Its people like that that keep me packing the heat. My bro got robbed by a nola 2 months ago. Another friend was murdered when we were about 16. Supposable gang related but my bro wasnt in a gang. You might think I am crazy but I think people that dont have a gun are crazy. So yes if I or my family were to get in a bad situation I would want my kid to know how to use a gun. You teach them right from wrong and raise them right then you wont have all these kids killing each other. But unfortunatly that isnt the case with everyone. So I will continue to pack the heat.

Of course, yes. Your society is a lot more violent, and yes Widow, put like that I can see your passion and most of all your point. When I said insane or mad or whatever I was speaking figuratively... it just seems that way to me because I am from a society where you don't need to pack the heat.

You don't need to tell me about robbers... unfortunately I used to be one. Growers and dealers are easy targets because they can't go to the police, you can wait a while then rob them again a few months later. Kidnap is a method they use too, take someone close to you off the street then give you the phone call and the ransom demand.
I was never one myself, but you've got guys out there that are robbing simply to fund their crack habits. They'll earn a few grand and blow it all on crack in 1 or 2 days, then they're back out again risking years in prison when they are caught.

If I were you I'd have a small arsenal too. I don't think you're crazy, it just seems crazy to me. I've never been to America, I don't know what it's like. Everything that happens over there happens over here to, only we are a bit more reserved. Sorry about your friend, mate.

Skunk sez ...

"You don't need to tell me about robbers... unfortunately I used to be one."

Now be totally honest with us here. If you knew there would have been a chance ... just a chance that your robbery victims might have been armed, would that have deterred you from committing the crime?

No, you just plan around it. Plus guns in this country are valuable. Merely people knowing that you have a gun makes you a target for robbers. The best robber deterrant is a dog, or two.

Jake blues: Didn't mean to offend, it's just sooo different here, and this thread has helped me realise just that. You must understand that I come from a place where there aren't supposed to be ANY guns in civilians hands, whether they are criminals or not. Again, if you took offence then I am sorry as this wasn't my intention. I just said how I felt at the time.

skunk none taken.but if i`m not mistaken even in your part of the world farmers and ranchers are allowed to own shotguns.
but i would like to say that here in the area where i live has a zero crime rate unless you count the teenagers who knock down mail boxes from time to time.
i think the only murder here was in the 1920`s and we have no local law enforcement.

That last bit made me laugh. No wonder you have no crime rate. lol. Yes our farmers (we're not big enough for ranches) are allowed to own shotguns, but the bullets must be kept seperate and in a locked drawer, I think. I'm in envy of where you live, i long for peace and tranquility, the calm of the country air, to be able to walk for a mile or two without bumping into another person. Mmmm, one day, one day...
