Gumby/Bubble Hash

Ok, i'm not sure about the bubble bag method, but when making gumby hash, is there any method to minimize the amount of evaporite minerals?

surely unless the water is all actively removed other than relying on evaporation, you will end up with a bunch of crap in your hash? (i know it's not the most high grade method, but i figured that was more in terms of plant sediment present in the end product, not salts etc)

good question, I would think using distilled or RO water would minimize any mineral sediment to a negligible level.

I am pretty sure though that while using the gumby method you wait for the trichomes to settle out of the water and you then proceed to decant or siphon off water and the remainder of the water would not be enough to contain much minerals from water at all.

That's not to say however that the quality of the water you use won't have an effect on the taste and quality of your hash It defiantly will

indeed, i guess i'd also need to go about making up 2kg of ice cubes from distilled as well, all of which rapidly makes hash so much less worth the effort (take oil, i figured cool, then figured i'd be spending about £12 on the gas for each run, pfffff)

as it is, i do as the method dictates, leave to settle once, siphon, leave to settle again in glass jar, siphon, but you can only siphon so much before you start to pull the trichs from the bottom (not sure if there's a solution to this etc, i was doing it almost ml by ml).

as it was drying out i noticed that there was actually a scum/skin forming on the surface, even with just a teeny amount of water in the mix, i did two lots, one of which i lost trichs as a result of continuing to moniter and try and remove water manually, and one where i just let the few mm of water evaporate off. the first one had a yellow/white layer on it, very thin, but pressent, and the other batch just has what looks like a pretty substantial amount of "stuff", needless to say that batch has gone straight in the bin (i could probably have chucked the stuff back in a bucket and re-done it but at that stage i thought sod it).

for reference my tap water has a ppm of about 150 so afaik fairly good. with bubble bags i assume that this is less relevant as the water drips through as well as evaporated off so there will be minimal water to remove at the end.

could just be that it was my first time so i did something slightly wrong but either way it's knocking me for 6

i don't really know you but from being given rep like that, let alone not posting in the thread, well 1. i don't think fdd et al would be best impressed 2. why is the referal so important? big hairy ball status? 3. discussing my grows and such on speedy forums would be my last wish, your safety and protection (i guess more relevant to the UK growers) is non-existant. the site is as dodgy as it comes, i mean for gods sake, the owner of a UK seedbank openly talks about how he grows everything all the time and such, fuck that, i'd rather my information is not retained in his database!

lol i just skimmed threw this but ive made alot of gumby hash but
when i have the giant jar full the magic water ill let it sit for 24 hours to let all the trichs float down to the bottom, then siphon very carefully makin sure not to disturb the bottom goodies
im pretty sure all the trichs float down to the bottom by then and everything at the top is just no good( maybe u can skim it out dry it and smoke it and see results LOL).
what did you use to strain the material threw i usually use a spaghetti strainer for first stage then a old white t shirt for second seems to work pretty well and its on the cheap ~_~
