First try for bubble hash with fresh frozen & first question

I’ve always used dry buds, etc for my hash, but heard you possibly get more yield with fresh frozen, and since I only have an over-under refrigerator/freezer, I can only do it when i harvest unless it turns out great & I buy a small freezer….

But, first I need to find out how much to use when making bubble hash. I’ve always weighed dry, but how do you determine how much fresh frozen to use? I have two gallon zipper bags full right now. One is mostly immature stuff (had some plants dying on me due to early flowering early ’death’ ) and the other is mostly popcorn buds and some good buds . They’re all from the first harvestings…

BTW, just curious: I weigh my product when it’s dry and add it all up to see how I did per strain, weight-wise; Since I’ve got this frozen (all three strains mixed together, so that blows my perfectionism anyway ;)), is there any way to determine how much weight that would be dry? I know there probably isn’t, but if I don’t ask…..

. The first question is the most important, as I’m manicuring now, and need to know when to stop putting them freshly in the freezer (until I make a batch :p).

My understanding with working fresh frozen plant material is that its all about the volume. You can't get it to work right if you overload the work space.
Are you working in the bags or are you using a washer? Either way the frozen material will take up more space and needs to have enough room to move and be acted upon by the water. You never want to overload the work bag or the washing machine.
Your question above weight is anyone's guess, especially since it was brought down early.

Thanks. That was my concern: putting too much in where it couldn’t work right. We use the bags & a slow drill with a soft silicone attachment on the end. Last time we made the ’mistake’ (it was only the 2nd time to make it) of using 8 oz, which I had seen from a video. I wanted to not make it as soon. I have been making ISO hash, and it only makes a small amount at a time. I use .3gms each night to sleep through the night, and since 10gms, which is what I was using, makes 1gm, it lasts almost 4 days, so I was making it every four days, and was sick and tired of it! You should have seen the two of us shaking the 25 micron bag! It took about 30 minutes, and our arms were SO tired! Especially after the 3rd wash :wall:. I’m one of those that learns, but sometimes the hard way. So, will go back to 4 oz when we do dry.

2nd question (I’m asking on 2 forums to get a wider variety of answers ;)).

Do you prefer dry or fresh frozen to make hash? I can only make this decision once a year - when I harvest; And I just cut FOUR more plants today, and will have at least two more tomorrow. At least I have a 2nd try this year, as I planted 10 more after the first set of 30, down to 24 after 6 didn’t make it (changing seed banks) flowered at 8-12” high, and they are NOT auto flower. I posted in four forums about that, and was told in most of them that they would most likely die. Four of them did. Many of them are stunted, and look really funny, but have little buds going all the way up, rather than the normal way. (Sorry for the long post…I was just out there cutting, and came in HOT as blazes and sat down..you are my victim :p.) I’m harvesting the ones that didn’t grow into ‘Regular’ plants. The ones that went on and grew taller, and got buds like ‘regular’ plants, will be due about mid-late September.

So, I’ll have 10 more to harvest in November. I’m busy, busy, busy….and, it isn’t going to stop for a LONG time!

Forget the material bags in the wash. And stir with a broom stick. Gently. As stated above. You need good easy movement in your wash. Not abrasive grinding. And keep the ice to a minimum. I've washed a load of buds or two.

I'll be taking my first crack at using fresh frozen also soon... is there anything else I need to do with the finished product as far as aging or curing since it is from fresh frozen? I have always only used dried stuff.
