ok i am a new grower and i have a 2' by 10' plot in high grass surrounded by trees. i have added peat moss and may add lime stone even tho the soil is prime.ITs in central NOrth carolina on the banks of a lake(dont worry its undevelopable and only reachable by boat(i can kyake to it) ...i have made sure that the plot receaves more then 5 hours of direct light and i have no worry of police fly by(hopefully cause we have a poor police station and not a big problme with people growing, if at all)....i am planning on sea of greening it with about 50-75 good mid bag seeds(straight in soil i cant pre grow inside)....half will be male and the females, i expect half of them to die aswell from begginer badd luck....so i am hoping for around 8-12 females in the plot....i really need help for the following problems..

1. i really need to no withing a week of when to plant the seeds, this so far is the biggest concern....

2. i also need a good trusty way to repel the many deer in the area and i hope not to enconter it but rodents aswell, do beevers eat weed cause theres a few in the area.

3. also i havent decided to fertilize or not.....need help on this

I think you can get deer repelant at home depot? or Lowes spray bottle.

if you can check up regularly you can check on growth and tie 'em down to sog 'em without the screen.
sounds fun!

Did you say 50 - 75 seeds in a 2 foot by 10 foot plot? If I've got that right, it's way too crowded. If the site is really that remote, you need to spread 'em out way farther apart than that. They need space to fill out properly.

As for deer and beaver... I dunno about the beavs. Never thought about them. Little bastards seem to eat just about everything else they can get their hideous little fangs into, so I guess it wouldn't surprise me. But if the site is really that secluded, haul some chicken wire out there and build little enclosures around your plants. I've never used it myself, but I've heard some people spray paint it black. They say it makes it a lot harder to spot. I'm not vouching for that myself, but that's what they say, and it sorta makes sense. It would keep it from reflecting, and I would imagine you can spot the reflection on bare chicken wire from a lot farther away than you're liable to notice black chicken wire in a green field. Other than that, various repellents sometimes work and sometimes don't. I think mostly you've just got to take your chances and hope you don't lose too much to the critters, because no matter what you do they're bound to get some of your crop any time you grow outdoors.

Fertilizer? I won't weigh in on that. I rarely use it, because the sites I typically grow in don't need it. I haven't used it enough times to give any real advice.

As for what the seeds will turn out to be, I guess it depends on what kind of dope was in the bag you found them in. Was it your dope, or did people give you the seeds? The region in which you bought them probably doesn't matter much. People grow sativas in Canada and indicas in Florida, so there's no telling what was in the bag you bought in the Carolinas. Just have to grow 'em and find out! Good luck.

well i am not sure if you have them but over here we have wild boar. and they are quite a problem for the guirilla grower. what i have found is that around your fence (you most def. should have one of these) rub some bar soap onto the fence or a string you wrap around the fence, they don't like it. or what you can also do is put a bar of soap in a stocking somewhere around your plants, although i am not sure how fast this method wears out.

good luck fellow gorrila.

1. are you starting them in your plot from seed? i'd prob plant mid or late April, depending on the altitude of your site. i also agree with the over planting strategy you have. once you see how many germinate and then determine the sex you can thin the field out and leave a few feet between each.

2. i've never had a problem with animals. insects are another story... running fishing line and putting deer repellent out is the mark of a true city boy. don't waste your time/money.

3. jack's classic, veg and bloom at 1/4 strength. learned about it here last year and love it. use google to find the website and order this stuff!

4. bag seed is bag seed. if you liked the bud it came from grow the seeds and see what you get...

5. SOG is very obvious from the air. you can bend your plants with hemp or jute string to make them grow more tight colas.

Neither. I'd start 'em indoors, even if you can only do it a week or so before planting. Is that an option for you? You can just use those little Jiffy Pot thingamajigs, those little peat pellet pots about two inches in diameter - just add water and they expand into little bitty peat pots. Plant a seed in each one, and haul 'em out to your site with your kayak when they're 2 or 3 inches tall.

That's exactly what I do, only I use a canoe instead of a kayak. But the basic principle is the same, of course.

germinating in a paper towell or any other method is not a waste of time. it is ensuring that you will have more seedlings. i suggest paper towel then move the sprouted seed to keg cups with drainage holes full of a pro mix of some sort. you want you plants 3-4 weeks old before planting them. you want to plant them in an area where you have pre set holes. this will make or break your grow. animals are easily dicouraged with urine and fecis from humans. chicken wire is another good way but causes some attention to the patch. if you can get there twice a week that is more then enough. especially for your first time the more the better. nutrients are a plus. most of which you can get cheap from OSH. the thing you need to remember about the G-grow is numbers. the more plants you have the more likely you will be sucessfull. not only that but i would work 2 more plots. 30 plants each plot. if you sprout now and plant them in may it will not be SOG. your plants will mature through the summer and be fairly good sized when fall comes. check your local news paper farmers almanac, it will tell you when the best time to plant in your area is. when the frost ends and when "spring" weather starts. if you plant now you will have a very little survival rate however you can still flower during the spring. the sun is not as strong so the buds wont be as developed but you can have a pre summer harvest none the less.

easy way would be churn your 2x10 patch up with some planting soil..plant about 10-15 seeds and make sure you water them:blsmoke: and then when time starts getting shorter you find all the females and cut down the rest and you would be left with like 4 good plants and then harvest in october. if you want to keep away pests i hear coyote urine works real well and it can be bought.:blsmoke:

starting indoor for me is not an apption but i was thinking only for a week or two that i would plant a coupla plants in lil pots(like 4) and put them outside in the sun(it gets like 70-80 here during day)....then once its pitch dark i can move the pots into my under the house craspace which will add alot of heat and not let any frost thats left get them....then before the sun rises before work id just move them outside to my sunny spot and repeat the process hopeing me rents dont catch on haha....also if this is a valid idea how big should they grow before i transplant.....id plant the rest of the seeds in the ground in early april(when i transplant the other 4 plants) but i want to get atleast 4 going good to increase my chances plus im bored(the 4 pre plants would be a different strain then my bag seed i found them luckely in some heads).....any help much appreciated

hopeing me rents dont catch on haha.

sorry, that's not "haha" material.

since you don't have your own place you should at least have the decency to protect your parents and not have any of this stuff on their property.
