Hi All.

I am new to this forum. And new to growing as well. Starting from scrap - building Ultimate Growroom.
One of the most important things for me is to be free of any odors. Just to be safe and not to make my hobby complicated.

As Active Carbon Filters are rare here and on ebay - quite pricey - i decided to use my own brain.
Got lot's of info from forums and put them together to make one ultimate filter.

With this badass setup in your growroom - something could die in there and you would not notice :)

Things you need:
HPIM5916.jpg
1. Aluminium Mesh
2. Cooker Hood Dust Filter
3. Active Carbon
4. Sealant
5. Stockings
6. 160mm End Cup
7. 100mm End Cup
8. 100mm to 160mm Transition
9. 100mm to 100mm Transition
10. Fasteners
11. MacGruber Tape
12. Iron Fasteners

And here is 20 step tutorial how to make this badass ODOBLASTER!!!

1. Check how logn you will make the filter. There is no limit - but keep in mind - the longer you make - the more carbon you will need. Mine is about 35CM and it should run around 2 years - growing up to 6 plants at once.
2. Take 100mm to 100mm transition (9.) and 100mm endcup (7.)
3. Cut out aluminium mesh (1.) so it fits right around 100mm transition + some 2 or 3 cm.
4. Roll it around 100mm transition (9.) tight and hold it whit your hand.
5. Put on 100mm iron fastener (12.) to fasten the mesh to transition.

6. Put on 100mm end cup (7.) in other end and fasten with 100mm iron fastener (12.) - same way you did in other end.
HPIM5919.jpg
So now you have made the core of the filter. Inside the core - filtered air will be collected and sucked out with help of vent.

7. Cut out dust filter (2.) so it fits right around the core.
HPIM5922.jpg
8. Roll it over the core and fasten with plastic fasteners (10.)
HPIM5923.jpg
9. Tape both ends with MacGruber tape (11.) so there is no chance that it can suck unfilteret odor through both ends.
HPIM5924.jpg
10. Pull on ladies stockings (5.) to avoid carbon particles to be sucked out from filter.
HPIM5925.jpg
11. Use Tape to tape both ends again to keep stocking in place.
12. Cut outer mesh (1.) so it fits right around 160mm parts.
HPIM5926.jpg
13. Connect 100mm to 160mm transition (8.) to core - that we made before - by drilling holes in both sides and screwing in some plasterboard screws.
HPIM5928.jpg
14. Seal the connection to make sure no particles will be sucked out by using sealant (4.) and gun.
HPIM5929.jpg
15. Stuff in some remainings of your dust filter in cap to save some carbon in places where it wont do its job.
16. Put on outer mesh as you did for the core - and fasten it with iron fastener (12.)
HPIM5930.jpgHPIM5932.jpg
17. Pull on ladies stocking to avoid carbon particles getting out.
18. Fill space between core and outer mesh - with active carbon (3.) and stuff end of the filter with leftovers from dust filter as you did in other end.
HPIM5933.jpg
19. Put the end cup on (6.) and tighten it with metal fastener (12.) You can put on some more plastic fasteners to make sure that stocking will not come off. And tabe both ends to hide sharp edges of mesh
HPIM5934.jpg
20. Cut out dust filter (2.) and roll it over the filter and fasten with plastic fasteners. Use Tape to fastend both ends of dust filter and seal - avoid getting some dust to active carbon.

And There it is. Your Hand Made Active Carbon Filter - MR.ODOBLASTER
It will run you long time and it can be maintenanced - by taking off end cup and changing active carbon - after some year or two.
