Growth rate up to standard?

Hi hi all, a long time lurker here, so this will be my first official post. I hope all of you are doing well. Anyway, i have a question regarding the growth rate of my plant. I am growing 1 delicious seed northern light blue which is a cross of (northern light X with DJ short blueberry) It has been 28 days today and it is only 4 inches tall. It is very short but also very bushy. Has anyone got experience with this genetic? Should it be taller? Is there anyway to make it grow faster/ taller?

Info:

Growing medium; Coco coir
Nutrient; Botanicare grow/bloom, Cal mag
Lights: Viparspectra 450 led (100/200watt actual with grow/bloom '200 watts if both switch on') Taotronics 36 watts led Grow lights (right now only 136 actual watt draw)
Growtent; growlab gl40 1.4"X1.4"X3'11
Exhaust fan; S&P TD-SILENT 100xs With muffler and carbon scrubber

Even though i live in california where they just made it completely legal i am living in a situation where i need it to be completely stealth. Mean no lights, no sound, no smell.

Sorry about the led lights. They are horrible for pictures but i hope you can see it clearly.

Welcome to RIU! Looks like you can have good expectations that could materialize... Good luck and hope you
get them to the finish line!

Thanks final phase.

Anyway I dunno if it's the LED lighting or if genetic or if im feeding it enough nutrient, but this plant is hella short. It's healthy green and bushy so im not too worried just want to compare it to other people grow rate.

Yeah that's what im thinking too. Anyway i turn on the bloom switch so i just doubled the amount of light she gets. I will repost picture after one week to show how she is doing. So far i can see that she is perking up already!

I have grown using HID and i remember them growing much bigger than this after one month. I will be cloning her and using a 100 watt sunburst MH just to see.

Bro been there. Had one of those multiswitch LEDs before and node spacing was almost 0. The plant looked like a green basketball with new growth unable to break thru the fan leaves that were two hands wide. Hit that same plant with Hid after 8 weeks of slomotion veg and it over grew the tent in 2 weeks..

Yeah I do remember my hid grow being much taller. I usually do a hybrid lighting setup, be it mh/hps or mh/led hps/led cause I got insane results from that but, due to limited space, I cannot. Maybe I will switch out the viparspectra for a sun burst mh combine with my taotronic led. But for now I turn on the bloom switch and I will see what happens after a week. The node spacing for girl is super tight though so I think it is the result of led lighting. I wish I got more room for experimentation. I don't even smoke, I just want to grow the most potent biggest yielding bud possible.

Well it's been 5 week now and i am happy to report that it is indeed growing up big and strong. It is now a little over 6 inches tall now with many compact node sites. I did switch on the bloom doubling the light and also raising the light up a bit. I am currently doing 19 hours on 5 hours off. And it still so bushy :weed:. I will take some clones tomorrow and will throw it into flowering stage as soon as her calyx pistils appear. The stem gives off a very strong fruity smell. Delicious seeds did say this is a 100% indica strain and by the look of her i would agree. Very short and bushy with fat leaves. Excellent for indoor grow in my opinion. She is not a heavy feeder as she can get nitrogen burns very easy. I did have to cut off a few of her fan leaves cause they were blocking the inner grow a bit.

Well anyway just an update for anyone who is curious about northern light blue strain from Delicious seeds. I will continue to post update week by week. Not that anyone really care . Just my own personal journal.

It's the light spectrum that keeps them short. Consider it a blessing, as stretchy tall plants can be a major PIA.

On the 450 you need to use both switches to get the full power. I use one to veg mothers on a property and it does wonders(vipar450) at 4 weeks I have monsters especially with training. Don't know what these guys are talking about leds making your stuff short. I'm guessing it's because you weren't using it to its full potential. I even have a 300 for a clone room. Keep the light about 24in from the tops. There's other factors here than just the light, don't let these guys tell you it's just that. There's a pretty strong hate for blurples here. It seems if they can't get good results they blame the lights instead of themselves. Check out plenty of journals here with explosive growth from leds, doing a lot better than a lot of HID and other setups.

I agree. I have had a CLW Solar Storm 440 for years now and it's always performed like a champ for me even though I get made fun of for it constantly. Lol

Thanks, like I said, once I switch both on, it grew 3 inches in a 8 days I even raised the lights higher and cut one hour off. From 20/4 to 19/5. It is about 17 inches from the lights.

Keep this updated please. I'm strongly considering purchasing that light in the next month or so.

well i see her calyx hair has appear :hump:. Yay! but im not gonna flower her just yet. Taking clones from her seem to have shock her a little bit as she is not her perky self. I didn't think i took too much from her. She look slightly sad today  She is a droopy so i water and fed her. She should be back to her perky self by tomorrow. She has a very pungent green/earthy? smell, but rubbing the stem gives off a strong fruity smell, northern lights aren't known to be very smelly but my is. Good thing i have a carbon filter on, otherwise the smell will reek up my room. Will post picture when i switch to 12/12. Delicious seed website stated it should take 50-55 days. We will see.

I am gonna be mainlining one of the clone on my next grow. I just wanted to see how she grows naturally without any training. This light can grow 2-3 easily if i had more space to work with. So far in veg these lights are doing a pretty good job. I can see people using this light only for two mother plants with no problem. Can't wait to flower her! as soon as my clones are rooted im gonna flip.

Oh and i took the picture with my iphone 4s...
