Growth Problems 1 Week old

Hey guys,

I have 2 one week old AK sprouts, but they havent grown much since about day 4. Until day 4 or so, my light was too far away, so I moved it closer (Its a 50 watt CFL). It was like 18 inches away, I realized that was too far, now its about 4. Could that be the problem? They are in pretty small cups, should I transplant (Maybe their roots have used up all the room)? My other theory was that theyve used all the food from the soil and i need to start giving them small doses of nutes (they are in a generic ACE potting soil). What do you think? There also hasnt been much leaf growth, they have 2 small round ones (their first ones) 2 larger pointy "Marijuana leaves", and there is signs of small growth inside all that but not much has happened lately.

Any advice would be great!

First you need better ph balanced soil. The ph of your soil also needs to be checked. Look into how to balance your soils ph. That can be problem number one. I highly doubt at a week old they are root bound and don't have enough room. KEEP THE LIGHT AS CLOSE AS POSSIBLE WITHOUT BURNING YOUR PLANTS! Keeping that light an inch away instead of 4 is a much better idea...the best way to tell if it's to much heat and can burn your plant is to put the light bulb as far away from the back of your hand as you are to the plant...if you can easily tolerate the heat then you are good. DO NOT FEED THEM ANYTHING...they are so young that you will burn them...its like you'd be feeding a week old baby a t-bone steak...not happening. Get some superthrive and check that out. They sound like they are right on schedule but look into a small bag of fox farms oceans forest or happy frog. Hope I helped.

OK I dont think the soils pH is the problem, they are healthy vibrant green. I checked them just a few minutes ago. They have made some slight progress. I also swapped the 1 32 watt CFL (K unknown) for 2 20 watt 6500k CFLs, and I think that might help. I'm also gonna move them into a new box i just finished (15 gallon rubbermaid tub, styrofoam insulated, 32 cfm fan out, passive 3" in with the 2 6500k 20 watts and a 2700k 20-27 watt). I think that should fix the problem, im gonna guess it was a bad color spectrum (that 32 watt might have been a 3500k, but not sure).

Thanks for the help titties, i was only gonna nute them as a last ditch effort.

Hey Nugs, the ph might not be the problem but Ace soil is crap. You've seen it in my grow, 50/50 MG potting soil and some seedling mix containing peat, perlite, etc. I love it. My plants love it. For the wee babies maybe a bit more seedling mix in the ratio.
