using urine is controversial because alot of people think its gross (myself included)

Urine is a concentrated forn of N and it will help the plant grow in vegatative stage. theres so many cheap alternitaves that there really is no need to use it. some do and most dont.

Urine is sterile when it comes out, it is also super high concentration of nitrogen. It needs to be diluted with water or it could damage your plants.

all that being said, yes it is usable, no its not really a great way to give a nitrogen boost. I say if i were to use urine i would do it on a outdoor grow, could end up smelling pretty bad in a hot grow room.

anyways...enjoy

The growing with urine is a very concerned from of n and its super high really a great way to give a nitrogen boost it will grow in the vegetable state.

Using urine from all sorts of animals for fertilizer is Extremly common in most of the third world. Human Urine is perfectly sanitary, and has saved many people from dying of dehydration...

I personally don't use my urine directly in the garden, but I do regularly pee on my outdoor compost pile. This is a human tradition as old as agriculture itself...:eyesmoke:

ummm helloooo...urea....................stearate....ammonia........hello...3rd world nations....most nitrogen is sourced from cow piss!!!!!!!...and most ferts are made in 1 of three places in the western hemisphere....as different powders, the nute makers buy this and add water and a fancy labelled bottle...n is n/ no matter were it comes from...

I think you end up with salt buildup. Better to go with more conventional sources of nutes. I think for a gallon of water, you add 5 to 10 percent urine. It's really hot. I pee in my outdoor composting super soil like 1 time. Works fine. This topic comes up from time to time. In an Armageddon scenario, fertilize with human pee. In this world, with pot at this value, just use the usual suspects, super soil, TLO, whatever.

The main problem with using piss as nutes (besides the high concentration of N that will burn the fuck out of most plants if not diluted) is the high salt content. Cannabis plants don't like salty soil. Pissing on a compost pile and using that compost months later is fine though.

The dilution ratio is between 10:1 and 20:1. It absolutely works on almost anything you want to grow, especially in vegetative stage, of course, where high N is needed. I find it's quite fine for a quick burst of N when needed, but I wouldn't use it with every watering due to, as others mentioned, salt build-up. I know by most peoples' estimation, the practice is "disgusting," but I think it's rather more of a miracle, it's free and organic. If you use it, don't use the initial stream of piss, just like when you're going for a drug test. Your smoke isn't going to taste like piss; nor are your tomatoes, basil, parsley, peppers, or whatever you use it on. The principal ingredient in almost any high N fertilizer is urea. If you have two identical plants, try it in one. You will definitely see a growth difference. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go see a man about a horse.

its only organic if what you put into your body is organic. so if your drinking soda and other drinks with artificial perservatives in them then your urine is not going to be organic. thats just my take on it. But beef farmers cannot call thier beef organic unless fed all organic foods. this is why you hardly ever find organic meats. because in order for them to be true organic they have to eat organic. which means organically grown grass in the pastures, organically grown hay and organically made food/grain.

like i said above your urine is a waste by product of what your body dosent use from what you consume so unless your on a 100% organic diet then the urine is going to contain inorganic trace elements.

Nitrogen sources ARE different. Here is a must read from the bunny warren archives. Once again the importance of a proper nitrobacter population in the rhizosphere cannot be stressed enough in organics.

Urine is looked down upon as a source for N on most gardening forums. For the life of me I don't know why other than societal taboos. Milorganite is gaining popularity as a viable fertilizer, yet it is merely processed human waste!!! Go figger! It may well be good, but I ain't using it! Urine IS sterile and I am unaware of anything like E Coli or other pathogens associated with it's use as is found with human waste, but we are treading in potentially dangerous waters by using it when there are so many other proven safe sources of N around.

On a side note, ain't it funny how many folks are SO anally careful to keep pH right, buy the right soil, and generally treat their girls as fragile objects yet are more than willing to get really exotic in their search for the "magic bullet" nutrient?
