Growing with cold cathodes?

Hey guys I'm new to growing, and I was wondering if anybody has any experience with using cold cathodes as a light source. They come in all kinds of different colors, so wouldn't they be a good for growing? Maybe using a blue, a red, and a white?

It depends on what type you get. I'm talking about cold cathodes for PCs. I'm thinking of getting blue, red, and white tubes, each of them 15" long. The ones I'm looking at put out over 30,000 lumens, if I understand this chart properly: Lumitex Specification 1
The cathodes brightness is measured in cd/m2.
