Growing tip

Last year my daughter gave us this small hydroponic system to grow herbs indoors. I set it up and used it for seedlings on my first grow and it worked nicely. I found that trying to transplant into coco I would damage a couple roots when I removed the seedlings from the plastic cage. Very nice root growth hanging out of the cage. The grow sponges saved the day as they had most of the roots imbedded and going the the sponge.
Next grow I tried simply using the sponge directly into a solo cup filled with coco/perlite mix. I placed the seed into the hole in the sponge and packed coco on top. This made transfer into the larger pot much easier and the sponge gives something for the roots to grab onto. It also helps with watering in the coco as the seedlings don’t flop over.
I wanted to share this info for anyone just starting out or if you also have had trouble transplanting.
This little system automatically waters and has different settings for light time but not a timer. The highest setting is 17/7 which I found fine for seedlings and small plants. It is especially handy if you are away from the seedlings for days as it takes care of itself as long as the reservoir is full.9CDB269F-B57F-429A-8864-7572B946B762.jpegE5C0B947-097E-4A71-8631-234560C2B297.jpeg9C3F9FD2-0FE0-4B64-A846-68CFFFE90A7A.jpeg
