plant them in well drained soil with lots of organic matter, and in a nice sunny spot and thats about all you can do

did you mean bulbs? :)

Onions also need proper drying and curing if you plan on storing them for any length of time.

Plant the seedlings just deep enough to stay in the soil, about 4 inches apart.Water frequently; onions need about an inch of water a week.

A friend of mine has a killer system for onions and potatos. Instead of digging in the ground he uses old trash cans. He cuts about a foot off of the bottom and flips them over with the handles on the ground then he fills them with soil and plants in them. When its time to harvest theres no pulling anything out of the ground and no worries about hard ground, he just lifts the trash can up and the soil and veggies just fall into a pile.

I have potatoes grow in straw this year. I lay out newspaper, place the seed potato on the paper, and cover with straw. I just keep covering with straw to hill them up. Plants look beautiful. We'll see how they did at harvest.

grew some georgia sweet onions this year from the small bulbs that i guess are called scallions from Lowes....anyways they all grew great, just like growing a regular bulb like a daffodil or something, but i found that alot of the green foliage they put out just always seemed to want to fall over instead of standing up strong....then the ends end up getten eaten up like over night and the plants just stayed weak....now some of them however stayed pretty stout and are now flowering with each one putting out a big ol cluster of white flowers, so they seem to be doing well.......
the onions that were fallen over real bad and kinda weak lookin, i dug those up to see just how big the bulbs were getting if even growing at all, and they actually were getting big, no signs of bugs or anything like that, but all the green growth above the soil was pretty much dead, so i didnt see the point in leaving them...hopefully the plants that are flowering are going to be some nice big onions, but does any one know why the growth above the soil fell over so much, or is that just kinda normal?? never grown onions before, so not too sure what kinda stuff plagues them so just a little curious.....the onions i picked by the way were really good tasting, just pretty small....Thanx for any input or advice....

As the plant's leaves get to around 6" you cut them back to 3". This make the onion produce its layers faster.

when they fall over they are finished growing, fork them out of groung n let cure for a few dsays then brush n store in cool dark area. note wo noy wash as they will rot. if they are flowering then let them seed if you want or pull and use right away, they will not store. ive got some i just broke over to start the cure as they were begining to show pre flowers. ill pull n cure in a week or so.

Hi scoobyboy
See if you are dealing with onion then you have to take care of three things-
1- Proper digging on round and at proper depth so that proper amount of water and sunlight should reach there.
2- Proper mixing of mud with manure and fertilizer.
3- At the time of watering proper care should be taken because sometime water get collected at one pace which is not good so water should be done by some efficient means.
