Growing Mushrooms via a casing pics

Hey vertise, so what would you say the total cost would be to start a cheap small grow, under 150? And how much would you be able to yield off of 4 syringes? And.. what is your casing in, a rubbermaid bin?

so do you have to keep buying spores to keep growing
i use sporeworks.com golden teachers. Simple strain but still potent and hearty. I use anywhere from 2-3 ml of syringe for each jar. Just squirt it in through the top of the jar and put a wort bandaid over the hole. Then shake to mix. i feel as though the grain easily prevents over saturation because its very absorbent. So 3 ml isnt bad. I also get alot of growth fast. I find it allows many more areas of growth to develop. My jars finish from start in about 10-14 days. I used to make liquid mycelium cultures using honey and water. I would add 2 ml of spore liquid into a pressure cooked mix of water and honey after it cooled. After about 2 days you can see mycelium floating and growing in the fluid. After about a week you should have a very white and stringy growth going. You can store this liquid in you frig for about 6 months. What this does is it gives you the ability to make as many syringes from the liquid culture mycelium. Its like using a spore syringe but a 1000 times better. With using 2 ml of spores to make a culture you can theoretically make hundred of hundred of syringes without spending any more then 2ml of spores costs. Get what i mean man
just read.. and it would answer everything...

How tall the shrooms ever get off of the substrate??? thinkin of makin an extra small terrarium so i can keep humidity high just from the moisture from the casing. So how do u start making casings from a colonized jar of rye grain?????and keep it sterile enough?

It varries from strain to strain. I grew some South Americans that got HUGE!! I think the tallest was 10in. Normally they get about 6 to 8 in. Or you can find a huge 1 and take some clone tissue...let it colonize...and they will be identical to the 1 you took it from!

yes it does...and you have to get a pressure cooker.
No you don't. I used a large pot to sterilize. you just have too put the jars in there onto of a dish towel with water 1/2 way up the jars and keep it at a low boil for an hour then let em cool over night.
It really not all that time consuming, a few hours to prepare the jars, then you just leave em sit for a month, then a another few hours for casing and pasteurizing. all and all its doesn't take up alot of time just sounds like it would
