Growing in Colorado Mountains

Thinking about a guerilla grow in the mountains. Elevation is between 10,000-10,500. Latitude about 40 deg. N. What are some suggestions for strains? Keep in mind I won't be tending these very often.. Thanks for help.kiss-ass

short season, look at auto flowers

I'm looking for a higher yield than an autoflowering strain will provide. I would like to plant the 1st of May and harvest mid to late August. Anyone have any luck growing Big Bud or Shiva Shanti?

I would agree that an autoflower might actually finish on time. The problem with that elevation and location is what we CO folks already know:

1. Weather changes...alot
2. Hail and other storms can wreak havoc in an instant
3. Your plants may look very yummy to the 'real' wildlife up there

Best bets:
Area that no herbivore animals frequent.
Good water supply nearby without flood risk(water attracts all animals though)
Southerly exposure
Plants that go in the ground almost 2 feet tall already (if possible)

Just some suggestions, if not just common sense. ;)

The animals are always a problem, not alot of deer around this area but lots of elk. No rabbits just little pesky ground squirrels. I understand the difficulties just looking for strains that other growers have had sucsess with..

Thanks for all the info so far..

I will be starting with clones, probably have room on the packhorse for 10-12 clones 12"-14" tall and all the other gear I need.

california.....yes.
colorado......i doubt it would be worth it.
i have lived in estes park (elevation at our home was 8,000 feet) for over 10 years. even at 8k feet i doubt it will work. someone mentioned the hail......that would wipe it out for sure. there is pleanty of chances of that happening. i dont want to sound like a dick or anything. i just imagined you doing it, spending $$$ and time and thought of the many things that could happpen. good luck! at 10k feet it will also be snowing on your grow (even in the summer) although alot less.

peace
