Growing in Apartment Sound/Odor Control

I'm currently trying to decide whether to go with an indoor or outdoor grow for this year. I would prefer to go all indoor, as any outdoor would have to be guerilla and having to deal with bugs/pests/weather/maitenance/rippers/helis and honestly if I can go indoors I'd prefer to just avoid all that.

That being said I'd like to avoid all that and get a setup going indoors if possible. The problem is I live in an apartment and I'm worried about sound/smell control being that the room will be adjacent to 3 other apartments on the ceiling, side, and floor. I'm planning on a vertical setup in a 4'x4' area using 2 400w hps in a cooltube. I know about carbon filters, and that soundproofing foam stuff, but I'm just kind of wondering to what degree of effectiiveness can it work on your sound/smell problem especially considering in the vertical setup I could have up 80-100 little clones flowering at once?

Basically I'm asking if there is anyway to outfit it so well that standing in the same room as your cabinet with the door closed shut you can't hear or smell anything? If so what would I have to do?

I'm willing to go to whatever lengths if this is possible because the way I figure it would be a complete waste to get everything purchased and setup and realise wow this is way too loud, or even worse make it to your last couple weeks with 80 plants and realise it smells way too bad, or worse yet not notice either of the 2 and one day you just get a knock at the door from the man :(

Ya man check out Wolfman zen he has a kickass DIY album and his carbon filter is a piece of cake i did it myself and it cost about 6 bucks and not even 15 mins of my time. Ill try to find the link and post it here. He just uses Activated Carbon for fish tanks-Walmart had it for 4 bucks and you have enough left over to do it again, apparently it lasts a couple months and you can bake the old carbon on cookie sheets to re-activate. hope this helps and im already lookin for the link.

Thanks for the replies guys, so it would seem I have the odor under control then. What about sound? I heard the lights can get pretty loud as well as the pumps and fans.

Theres a little hum with my 400w hps but nothing neighbors could recognize and i got 6 inch fans that just hum. im not in a hydro system so i dont know but that would be the loudest thing i imagine. so all in all my setup is just a small humm that neighbors cant hear (im renting part of a house) and thats 3 comp fans one 6 inch fan and a 400w hps. But why 2 hps?? just grab one and use cfls for vegin, cfl makes zero noise and hes enough energy to give you extremely healthy plants.

It's expensive but it works like mad as well it is called Dynamat they use it in car stereo installations to keep rattling away during bass blasts
