Growing hydro for the first time

If this is in the wrong forum I blame my English for that and excuse myself in advance.

I just got me this Ghe Ecogrower for a good price from my local hardwarestore. It's a dripper/deep water system that came with clay pellets and the Flora series nutes.

Thing is, I got it really cheap because the guidebooks included had been ruined by a nute-bottle leaking inside the container because of bad packaging at the factory. I figured I could just clean it out and get the manual online. I got a new bottle of the nute that was broken. Said and done.

I also got me rockwool blocks for planting and a small plastic "growhouse" for seedlings.

From previous experiments I got a 600W HPS wich I aim to use and some fans and what not.

Anyways, I was at first thinking I should plant six seeds (the ecogrower has six pots) and grow them up, just like that, but then I thought I could grow one in soil, like, next to the hydro-system, and take clones and put them in the rockwool-thingies and then in the hydro? Would that work?

I guess I need a simple guide from someone with experience on exactly what I should do to get a hydro system up and running.

Now, I got me a mixed 12-pack of feminized seeds and I'd like to plant som domina haze XXX because they got a cool name ;)

Will rep anyone who can help me out on this

right dude from what your saying you want to grow a mother plant aswell as your 6 that you are going to flower. so you can get all your seedlings going. germ them i use the paper towel method. then when you have a tap root put the root in some rooting gel then pop in your rockwool cubes that have been pre soaked in your res as guides tell you. plant your seed tap root down a quater to half inch deep and cover with a corner pinched of the corner of your rockwool cube. once you have done this put them in your prop and under your light source. best with cfls or a fluorescent on top of your prop on a 24/7 cycle. but you got to use what you got. so now your seedlings will start to grow. once you have the first 2 sets of fan leaves. you will be more or less ready for the second transplat into your larger rockwool cube or which ever medium you are using.you are now entering veg stage where your light cycle can stay at 24/7 or switch to 18/6 cycle. you now grow your plants to a decent size that suits your grow area remembering that once you switch your lights to flower your plants will double to triple in size this is where you will have problems without a second light if you want to keep a mother. in order to keep a mother plant you need another light to keep the mother on a 18/6 cycle to prevent her from flowering make sure this cycle is not interupted by your other plants flowering cycle. ie kept in seperate space blocked off from each other. that way you can clone your mother as and when you want. for this again you may need another small light to sit on your prop 24/7 for seedlings and clones. hope this helped and gave you a small insite into what your going to be needing to do. and what you require to run the set up as you said you would like. there are loads of threads on here that can help you just got to search them mate. if you type rui in your google search bar then what you want to search google will become rui's search engine and gives you better results. hope this helped happy growing

Yes that did help :)

Will there be any problems with keeping the mother in soil and putting cutlings from her to rockwool?

none what so ever mate, when you do your cuttings use a clean steralized blade or scissors and cut at a 45 degree agle dip the cutting in rooting gell and push into the cube gently till it stands freely be carefull not to dammage the fragile cuttings. happy gfrowing dude

Great video Scroggsy, thanks man.

shadowdarker, thanks alot, I'll get me some rootinggel (or this rooting hormone should do, right?) from the gardenshop.

Now, I'm reading up on the nutes and there's something I dont get.

Here is the table: http://www.eurohydro.com/publications/publications/APPLICATION CHARTS/GB/CHART-FLORA-SERIES-GB.pdf

So, I'm supposed to give 2,5 of all the nutes in the beginning? I'm not supposed to give the plants ONLY the Gro-nute in the beginning? Anyone has any experience with these nutes could explain this to me or come with some good pointers? Would be much appreciated.

I am also thinking about these rockwool-cubes I'm putting my seedlings in. Someone said that I should put them in PH-balanced water for a day or so before I use them, anyone know anything about this?
