Growing for the First Time

I just recently finished off an eighth of the best weed I ever had. I found 2 seeds in my ziploc bag. After half a blunt, my friend and I said I had it to grow it. I am not looking for the same potency, I am only looking to successfully grow and harvest the plant. I do not live by any grow shops and the only place smoke shop by me sells blunt wraps, bongs, bowls, etc. I have no in-depth knowledge of growing marijuana so I came here. I did do some research but I cannot find information broken down into simpler words. I plan to grow the plant in my closet and wanted to know how should I approach this. I already have an idea on how I want to go about this. I priced out pots, soil, but I am not sure about the lighting. What size light should I get and what kind? Is Miracle-Gro Potting Soil a good choice for marijuana? Also, should I have 1 fan to supply fresh air and 1 fan to return the air in my closet?

Most people stay away from miracle grow, but you don't have a hydro shop close to you. The rest is really up to your closet and pocket book size.
1-2 plants, you could go with a 250 watt MH/HPS system or even a 400 watt. You could also go with other lighting options if you so choose, cfl's, T5 florescent, or led but most common is MH (metal halide) for veg and Hps (high pressure sodium) for flower.

do some reseach. if you really don't know much about plants or growing i highly suggest watching both of jorge cervantez's ultimate grow videos. look into which method of growing fits your need best and plan out some of the specifics. jorge says it many times. plan before you plant. if you dont plan to plant properly, dont expect your plant to grow properly either!
probably the easiest way is to wait for the next growing season where you live and plant in high quality potting soil amended with whatever good organic ingredients you have around. then you wait.

Don't use mg potting soil unless it is fertilizer free. look for a green house or garden shop.keep in mind if you plan on using hps or mh you need the fixture, bulb and ballast. if you use both bulbs in the fixture you will need a switchable ballast. this can get expensive. what i would do for a first time grow is go with florescent lighting. i got 4 foot two bulb t8 that can run a t12 also for 18 bucks at minards i dont know if you have a minards in your area. local hardware stores will be a bit more expensive. my t8s are called skylight bulbs they have 6000 lumens. you will need one fan blowing in the room a powerful one, get those branches moving. one fan to blow air out near the top a spot near the bottom so air can come in no fan needed at the bottom just a filter to catch bugs and dust.

i have mg soil i used the seed soil because it has less nutes and i just have 3 23w cfls above it
you can have fans
i build my grow box with some wood and white posterboard as reflective material
and my baby is growing good it does get a little hot but so far she can handle the heat good if you look at my other posts theres some of my plant and you can see what one owuld look like under 3 23w cfls

Well man, You're gonna have a lot of fun growing your plant and be amazed by how much you're gonna get into gardening afterwards, so good luck on your grow. What you could do is just go down to your local Homedepot, Lowes, or hardware store, buy yourself 6 or so 23w daylight or full spectrum CFL's, I say those because most of the time those will be the highest wattage in those shops, emergency maylar blankets, some ducting and a decent computer fan to move all the air out, an oscillating fan to blow on your girl to help strengthen up the stem, and some Supersoil Potting soil, from Scott's which is a MG soil, but with out the time realease nutes on it and build yourself a cheap CO2 generator with brewing yeast, and that can be your simple set up.
It's the set up I'm pretty much using and I'm loving my results, check my sig to see how it's going.

I appreciate all the helpful advice. Won't be able to try any of it cause somebody stole most of my tools out of my truck. Since it's already sprouted, I am just going to get a decent size clay pot with some fertilizer free soil and keep it by my bedroom window and see what happens. Thanks anyway.

I wouldn't recomend you putting it in your window, since winter is about to come and it will kill your plant. Good luck with the plant though, I dont see it making it into veg stage in a window.

The plant needs more than 12 hours of light, you probably won't get that in a window. I just bought a 1000 watt HPS kit for $331 CAD, growing is a pretty cheap hobby compared to what you get out of it. It took me about 6 months to learn all I needed to learn, I nailed my first grow, 1 auto AK 47 (7 grams) and 1 Big Bud X Skunk #1 (4.5 ounces)

you should atleast get one cfl if your just gonna really do nothing i maybe spend 50 dollard on everything i needed at first i build my box so i only bought soil lights and 2 pc fans
if you did this is will be alot more enjoyable then seeing a plant by a window
mine is under 3 cfls right now and its 5 weeks old and is doing nice
cfls are great for first grows
