Grow techniques for a first time grower.

Most problems are the same. But soil is much more forgiving. Just don't over fertilize. That said, hydro is the way to go if you're already going to spend a good bit of time with them. I grow in soil and still spend enough time with them to be hydro. I just need two plants at a time though. Personally, soil is just too easy to do something else.
I think no-till soil is the way to go ;) copying nature as much as possible... no one knows better how plants are grown than mother earth and the sun!

I absolutely don‘t want to say hydroponic systems are bad, I am also looking at some systems, but for different reasons, for example faster growth, bigger yield, ...

But for high quality buds I still don‘t think, that there is anyhing better than a proper soil, a good microbiology, and proper food (for the plants and the life in the soil, which is living with the plant).

There isn‘t one truth at all, everyone of us is thinking differently about THE PERFECT GROW!:peace:

I wouldn’t say their cheap seeds or bad genetics, I just get them cheap. My buddy works for a seed bank. I got blue dream, girl scout cookies and white widow for an average $5 a seed. He also told me I could take his old hydroponic system for cheap but I hear that’s harder cause of something goes wrong you might lose everything and fast.
I suck at speaking / writing english, I just got you wrong :bigjoint:

I’ve read a ton on that website but I wanted a realistic opinion on if those techniques were as easy as the internet makes some of it seem. I appreciate all the responses and I think I’m gonna let one plant grow without any training, one with LST and another with LST and Topping or FIM. I know I gotta do more reading on the differences between the two.
Not to change the topic of the thread but I know what types of nutes I need like 9-3-6 and 2-7-7 and whatnot but any brands that are a nice middle road between being effective and reasonably priced ? I also read about cal/mag but should I wait til I’m more expierienced for this?

Cal/Mag is a must for RO and just good to have on hand. Nutes are another animal. I grow Lucas Formula with Maxibloom. I'm cheap and I know it. But damn I can grow it!

Should I be doing anything like LST FIMing, topping etc. on my first grow? I’ve done my research but I’m not arrogant enough to think I’m a master grower cause I read a few things on the internet. I plan on starting a thread in grow journals for people to give their input as I go along, catch me there in a week once I’m back from vacation. Till then, smoke one for the kid :bigjoint:
Patients is the most valuable skill any new grower can have.

I steer away from fox farms. Elite nutrients are good I have been using veg + bloom nutes and I’ve been pretty happy with them thus far.
