Grow Space 400w HPS

I am building grow cab with 2 spaces, veg and flower. both spaces will be 17"wX31"LX52" high. i need to know if heatr will be a proble with 400w HPS with 6"cooltube reflector? this will be flower side and may go with 400w MH on veg side with cooltube as well. what u guys think about the space and all? i will have 2 squirl intake and 2 squirl out take fans. also have smaller fans for inside circualtion and stem strength. oh ill post pics and start thread when build starts. just getting everything first. i already got my seeds!!

Jackerspackle's Lighting Coverage Primer a 400w will give coverage to a space that is 3'x3' why put that heater in such a small box

well if its got a cooltube with good venilation??

if you have the light and fans i'd mock up a box and see if you can control the heat,the light produces a radiant heat that will burn the plants as well if they get too close

how close do u think is good? have u grown with 400w hps?

i have a 400w in my closet but the celing is 8'

ok more info...what type of reflector? i will use a cooltube reflector with fan forced air intake and fan forced air outtake. the light will only be 6" deep.
how far do u keep the light from the tops of plants? what are you closets demensions? what are your temps?

My flower cab in pretty much the same dimensions. 18"D x 35"W x 60"H.
I run a 400w HPS with a 6" cool tube.
I have a 6" inline extraction fan ducted to one end of the cool tube and venting to outside, 6" passive fresh air intake.
Temps are fine except when it's extremely hot outside, then it's impossible to control heat build up.
I keep the light about 10 - 15" from top of plant depending on heat of the day.

oh also anyone use the MH metal halide conversion bulbs? for veg? i could start my plants with the MH for veg. since i will only order the hps ballast ot first, then nexy month order the mh ballast so ill good lighting for both veg/mother/clones/ and also flowering.

I use a Lumatek digital ballast. I suggest looking into them, they'll run both bulbs.
They're smaller, quieter, us less elec', run cooler, and have very little warm up time.
This plant was vegged under a MH and then flowered under a HPS, same ballast though.
